- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  The bed was very comfortable, my wife and I slept well. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood without lots of traffic. The bedroom and bathroom were large with lots of space to move around.

  The buffet breakfast was cold. The eggs, sausages and bacon were cooked but not warm/hot. The attendant said all the burners under the food were are the correct temperature setting and could not explain why the food was cold.

  Didn't like the fact I drove for four hours in horrible weather, arrived early, and asked the receptionist if my room was ready and if I could check in early. She advised, "Yes, your room is ready, but you will have to pay $25 early check-in. It was for an hour and a half. I advised her that I would be checking out early (6am). I just need to rest after the drive. She said it would be $25. So, I slept in the parking lot until I was allowed to check in at 1 pm. Otherwise, I would have had an excellent stay. The small things matter to customers!!!

  The elevator was not working for a day or so. My wife doesn't do well with stairs. The second morning, there was not sufficient food for breakfast at 8:00 am (an hour before the end of breakfast service). No drinks were available and the syrup had run out. The yogurt was also gone.

  Cock roaches in the room and the floor was so dirty that my grandsons feet were totally black after walking on the floor for 10 minutes. Also the pool was supposed to be open at 9 am to 9 pm but never opened or closed on time.

  We were staying in room 725. Bed at night was shaking (maybe because of the subway), we could hear our neighbors as if they were sharing a room with us, the window was facing another building and we didn’t have a sunlight during a day. We couldn’t wait to leave.
