Great friendly staff great location next cone of my favorite restaurants benihana's I like to enjoy their happy hour but the hotel is very clean I'm the only thing it could use some new drapes but other than that everything looks good and clean fresh towels and sheets

Beautiful indoors & outdoors. Wonderful food with a view of the Illinois River Valley. Wildlife: Pelicans, eagles, other water birds. The size & shape of Starved Rock made it easy to find solitude. The pool facilities rocked my world.
Drive to check-in for the Lodge was complicated by construction.

I did not like that we got downgraded in our room and still had to pay the same price. We started with a 2 queen bedroom and then they told us they had changed our room to a queen and a pull out even though I had booked a year in advance for the room I needed. The reasoning was that we were one of the last ones to book which is NOT the truth since I booked a whole year in advance.

“So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

“I really enjoyed my stay. The cottages are new, it's clear they were built recently. They are within walking distance of the hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, the plumbing is high-quality, and the beds are comfortable. It's also very nice that there are automatic blinds on the windows, so you can sleep in complete darkness in the morning. Additionally, each cottage has a shared kitchen.”
