Loved that my family and I could hang all day at the pool listening to music! No one complained! It was great. Night time was best. I also love that we were able to utilize the outside grill. We all had an amazing time! Varsity is our first choice....always! Oh, and I love the fact that Varsity is affiliated with Hilton! Cherry on top!

The breakfast was good .the basic Continental with waffles and cold cereal or oatmeal and juice or coffee they had toast and apples too .
There could have been more variety of fruit like bananas and oranges instead of just apples

Room was not filled with extra furniture. Perfect for a quick turn around trip.
Room ac wasn't on like requested. Room was a little run down/ showed signs of excessive wear. (Rust, random bits of caulking, paint chips) Insulation around the door was not fitted correctly so cold air would seep out and sun light came in. Room never really got to a decent "cold" temperature. Bed was very hard.

Breakfast was terrible!! Way over priced for cold stale food. Not real eggs. No juice or milk, coffee or tea no water even. Prefer buffet breakfast for sure. Not a good breakfast at all!
For a non smoking room it smelled so bad of smoke! The towels smelled like cigarettes the room and jet tub were dusty. O and sleeping was near impossible because there was a high pitch whirring noise that never stopped!

“So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

“I really enjoyed my stay. The cottages are new, it's clear they were built recently. They are within walking distance of the hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, the plumbing is high-quality, and the beds are comfortable. It's also very nice that there are automatic blinds on the windows, so you can sleep in complete darkness in the morning. Additionally, each cottage has a shared kitchen.”
