Location is incredible. That is what you are paying for here the location and the deck view. To be able to watch the dolphins in Waimea Bay is so special. And the walkable area to Foodland and Sunrise Shack was so perfect. The property manager was super responsive and friendly with anything we needed. And its great to have gated parking so close to three tables and Waimea. Sunset beach was a short 8 minute drive up. Everything about the location of this house is spectacular. I would stay here again just for the location.
The cleanliness of the house was fine. It is my first time staying in a home vs hotel. I know in Hawaii there are bugs and termites and mold and mildew to worry about. Its got to be hard to keep up a house there. The bathrooms were not great. Didnt feel updated and clean. Some termites (at least I think thats what they looked like) around but again I was kind of expecting that in a home in this area. I was in the master bedroom looking at the ocean and the screen door going out to that deck didnt work. I feel like the decks are why you stay at this house so anything not working in that area is not great. The air conditioning - they have those mini-split units and they ask that you turn off while you are not there. Upon checkin at 4:30p we walked in and it was boiling inside the house. So we turned on all the air but it took a good 2 hours or more to cool off. That is pretty unrealistic to expect your guest to be gone all day at the hot beach and then wait 2 hours for the house to cool down. Especially at nearly $1,000 per night. So they either need to change that rule or update the cooling system.

Noisy highway nearby. Walls thin. Heard screaming kids till 2:00 am. Had to be at the airport at 3:45 am. No quality of sleep.

room too small, i hit my head several times trying to get in the bed. When I complained to front desk, I said this room is terrible, she said, OK as if it's not a big deal, she did not even appologize.

“So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

“I really enjoyed my stay. The cottages are new, it's clear they were built recently. They are within walking distance of the hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, the plumbing is high-quality, and the beds are comfortable. It's also very nice that there are automatic blinds on the windows, so you can sleep in complete darkness in the morning. Additionally, each cottage has a shared kitchen.”
