I LOVED the fact that pets are truly welcome and free.To stay Being a solo female felt very safe taking my dog outside even at night. The room is very clean, and although since they have pets the room and comforter did not have any smell to it .

Cool furniture, good shower. The fridge froze my ice and not my food which is how it's supposed to work. I loved having directions for the bedside clock and that it dimmed. The internet was great.
The bed and pillows were a bit firmer than I like. The check-in person was efficient but not charismatic. I paid about $50 more per night than my usual limit, getting a nicer room than I usually do but not any better of a night's sleep.

Great location to catch the vibe of Santa Cruz at a good price. We can see a glimpse of water from our room.
Some stuff need repair. No elevator, so need to carry bags upstairs. The luggage cart had a flat tire and made using it difficult. The central ac was not working so there was one wall unit. If any doors were closed, then the room may get really hot.

It's older and it needs an update especially some new mattresses. Bathroom layout was terrible, way to small for a 4 person room. And we had a whole area in the room that had nothing in it.

“So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

“I really enjoyed my stay. The cottages are new, it's clear they were built recently. They are within walking distance of the hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, the plumbing is high-quality, and the beds are comfortable. It's also very nice that there are automatic blinds on the windows, so you can sleep in complete darkness in the morning. Additionally, each cottage has a shared kitchen.”
