I loved the heated pool. The full size kitchen in my room - Full sized fridge and oven. The make-up back lit mirror was great. Had a table and chairs to eat at and other chairs just to lounge. It was too big a room just for myself but I felt like I was extremely wealthy - and I definitely deserved to be pampered.
Had to pay for parking. I feel that should be included.

The pool is beautiful. All of the plants and plant features were really beautiful and impressive. My kid loved those especially. The views from hallway and eating area and pool (and some rooms, just not ours) were just phenomenal. Location central and convenient. Breakfast was excellent.
Carpets are probably overdo for a refresh; overall a kind of dinginess. It was clean though! This is not a cleaning/staff issue. (They were great.) I wish the restaurant offered more choices/seemed more like a restaurant.

Waiting in line to check in. Too little reception help. Being given a room with a connecting door and it was not sound proof. Could hear everyone

“So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

“I really enjoyed my stay. The cottages are new, it's clear they were built recently. They are within walking distance of the hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, the plumbing is high-quality, and the beds are comfortable. It's also very nice that there are automatic blinds on the windows, so you can sleep in complete darkness in the morning. Additionally, each cottage has a shared kitchen.”
