- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  beautiful trees view from the window The bed was very comfortable and the place was very clean, new, and would have been quiet if the next door room did'nt have an unruly child. There was a wonderful farmers market across the street (Thursday evening),

  There was no place to hang clothing. The walls are thin and there was a child next door who made noise late into the night. TV is lacking in selections (no Netflix, Prime, Hulu, etc) There are limited opportunites for dinner in Occidental.

  The location of the property was fine. I had to be at the convention center by 6 am. Less than 10 minutes away. The location was relatively quiet in comparison to others closer to the highway. The parking area was secure.

  Check in was an absolute mess. 3 staff on a Friday evening is a joke the line was forever long. We were told by staff to go to the self check in machines which were not working and a staff attendant for those had to manually check each person in.

  The strong fragrance smell was overpowering in both the lobby/entrance and the rooms. So fake and chemical. The price for the room was too much. The location is not close to anything you would want.

  Our room had the strong smell of pine sol upon entering it. At 6:00 pm . When I took a bath I noticed black (I am assuming mold)on the hand bar in the shower/tub.
