The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

      The staff at the front desk was really genuine and kind. They were personable even though it was a busy weekend. Loved How spacious and clean the room was, and the bed/bedding were very comfortable. There were a lot of families staying that weekend and the staff asked me if I'd prefer to be in a quieter section of the hotel. I appreciated that the most!

      There was some mold and dirt in the shower, not a huge deal. The most annoying part of the stay was that the sheets didn't stay on the bed! I was only there for two nights and it drove me crazy. Also, the breakfast felt a little chaotic. There were a lot of people there and it seemed like things were understaffed or could've been organized better. Would have liked some more options for take-away breakfast, like muffins or rolls.

He gave me a map with print so small I couldn't read it- not his fault, but something to be aware of in the future. When we asked about what was close he suggested we check websites rather than providing personal insight.

      Hard beds, dirty bathroom (shower floor appeared to be moldy, had debris on it. Old bandaid on conditioner container. Used bar if soap provided (ugh!). Shampoo and conditioner containers were mostly empty & tops easily removed allowing foreign substances in it (not that there were - just possible). A/C barely worked (was humid the day we were there). At least 5 sets of spider or cob webs were found. TV volume couldn't exceed a/c noise. Bugs! (No screens on windows & doors & couldn't shut stuck bathroom window). Garden view was just overgrown foliage. No morning coffee. Didn't expect breakfast but they should offer morning joe.
