- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

Simply cross the street toward the hotel and you’ll be right there.”

  The front desk staff was very friendly, the room was very spacious and the bed comfy. We only stayed one night but would stay there again. Breakfast was available but we only did coffee. Indoor pool & office area was available but again we only stayed 1 night

  Very cozy, very quiet area private entrance small kitchen area to prepare food. Everything you need and nothing you don't.

  I’m EXTREMELY disappointed ! We had to switch rooms not once, not twice but three times ! The first room had roaches in the bathtub (video proof) , second room had microscopic bugs in the tub (video proof) , blood stained linen, lamp didn’t work , overall FILTHY ! The third room that we were offered only had 2 beds ( 1 King and 1 Murphy) which wouldn’t accommodate our guest (Original room slept up to 6)! The front desk staff member was awesome (Oliver) super sweet but I would NOT EVER recommend this hotel to ANYONE! If I could give a negative rating, I would ! Not to mention, the bannisters on the balcony (second room ,video proof) was broken and keep in mind we were on the 5th floor with minor children ! Rooms are super outdated and have a strong smell of mildew. Third room was great with the exception of it not having enough of beds to accommodate our sized party !

  Cracked hallway, broken shower tiles, grouting was unprofessional. Walkin shower drains into bathroom. It was wheelchair style, not walkin. Made for a wet floor and dangerous walking.

  Smelled like weed,,, rooftop pool water was cloudy and had a film of hair and dirt , bugs floating on top of water,,, pulled down bedding after going to Lady GaGa concert at 1am and the sheets were not changed from previous guest and there was hair on the sheets..slept with the lights on because I was afraid bugs 🐜 would come out in the dark,, the room key cards kept on malfunctioning… had to go to reception numerous times to reactivate the room keys…. When I complained about the dirty sheets and mold in shower I was told they would have housekeeping come in and do a deep clean,, left for the day got back at 5:30 pm to shower and get ready for dinner and night out and room was not taken care of,,, complained again finally they had housekeeping come in and cleaned the room and changed the sheets I stood on balcony and watched the 3 attendants clean the room…. This had to be the worst hotel I ever stayed in.. wouldn’t recommend…

  One story affair with parking right in front of your room in most room locations makes for easy loading & unloading

  A rainspout in the shower with no hand wand?! How do you get the soap out your nethers?! And no foot rest or ledge of any sort for ease of lathering up. And a lamp or two would be nice. The brightness & harshness of the spotlights is not conducive for reading. No hooks anywhere, no block stop behind microwave to keep it from sliding back every time you close the door, no freezer in the fridge, no iron and ironboad, no safe for valuables (not the nicest side of town).
