How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewKultura was amazing! Aldo and the team were so generous to us. The place was so welcoming and clean, also has great air conditioning. Aldo took us on a day trip to the canyons which was amazing, we also had an amazing meal cooked for us. The Theth hike can also be organised by the team here and they are extremely helpful with everything. Karaoke was also a highlight. By far the best hostel in Shkoder!!!!

Verified reviewI had such a wonderful stay at Hostel Kultura! The building itself is full of character, beautifully decorated, and has a really warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, always ready with recommendations about Shkodër and the surrounding areas. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the center, yet peaceful enough to relax. The common areas are cozy and make it easy to meet other travelers, while the garden is a great spot to unwind. Everything was kept very clean, and the beds were comfortable with plenty of space. Overall, Hostel Kultura feels less like a hostel and more like a home away from home. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shkodër, whether for a short stop or a longer stay.

Verified reviewThe hostel is very easy to find and well sign posted. It had a lovely communal area where people gather and catch up! The staff were amazing, super friendly, kind and ensured we were welcome and settled in before even asking about payment and were even up making us a coffee at 6am. They organised our transport and tickets for Valbone the next day and stored one of our bags. Our room was a private room with bathroom and was very clean, comfy, quiet and had black out blinds which was perfect! We will definitely stay here if we come back.

Verified reviewreally cute and spacious, fully equipped. there were kittens on site and the hosts were kind. bus to koman literally picks up from right next door, so super convenient if you have to leave really early.
not at all the hostel’s fault and i’m not complaining—i could have probably done my research and found out myself before booking, but just a word of warning that there’s a loud bar downstairs if you’re not looking for that kind of thing. fortunately, they quieted down around midnight so not a huge deal.

Verified reviewGood staff! It was a bit loud one night because of live music by a different bar but otherwise very quiet despite its location!

Verified reviewStaying at Kultura Hostel was an unforgettable experience. The space has a creative, artsy feel that makes it stand out from typical hostels. It’s beautifully decorated, super clean, and has a calm energy that makes it easy to unwind. The staff were more like friends than employees, always ready to help, chat, or just sit around with a coffee. I met amazing people here and felt part of a small community. It’s not just a place to sleep, it’s a place to connect, reflect, and enjoy Shkoder at your own pace.

Verified reviewKultura Hostel was hands down the best place I stayed during my entire trip. The atmosphere is warm, friendly, and feels like home from the moment you walk in. The rooms were spotless, the beds were super comfortable, and the common areas were perfect for relaxing or meeting other travelers. What really made it special were the hosts, Xhuljo and Aldo went above and beyond every day. Whether it was helping with travel plans, recommending places to eat, or just having a good chat, they genuinely cared about everyone’s experience. The location is also ideal, close to the city center, but tucked away enough to be peaceful at night. I extended my stay because I couldn’t bring myself to leave. If you’re coming to Shkoder, stay here. You won’t regret it.

Verified reviewStaying at Kultura Hostel was a genuinely memorable part of my time in Shkoder. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt warm, relaxed, and effortlessly social. It’s the kind of place where conversations with other travelers happen naturally, whether you’re in the common area or just hanging out in the outdoor garden space. The location is great, close enough to walk to everything you need, but just tucked away enough to feel peaceful. What really stood out, though, were the hosts. Xhuljo and Aldo were incredible, super friendly, down-to-earth, and always willing to help. Verified reviewI had such a great time staying at Kultura Hostel! The location is perfect, right on the main pedestrian street in Shkodër, close to cafes, shops, and all the major attractions. The hostel has a relaxed vibe during the day and a fun, social energy in the evening thanks to the bar downstairs, but it still stays quiet enough at night for a good sleep. What made my stay truly special were the hosts, Aldo and Xhuljo. They were both incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. Whether it was sharing local tips, helping with directions, or just chatting and making everyone feel at home, they always went above and beyond. You can tell they genuinely care about the guests. The rooms were clean and comfy, the garden was a nice place to hang out, and it was super easy to meet other travelers. I also loved that they offered bike rentals and could help organize trips to Theth, Valbona or Shala River. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Shkodër, and make sure to say hi to Aldo and Xhuljo while you’re there, they’re the best!

Verified reviewClean, well maintained, and lovely staff who are so helpful and kind. Great social area with courtyard, karaoke and pool table. Bar is also very popular. Would 100% recommend this hostel and perfect location in the middle of a charming old town. If you’re catching a bus to surrounding areas they help you to purchase a ticket and get on the bus which is a great help. I liked watching the sunset from the balcony!
