Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

They could have been a bit better at cleaning as some objects were left in the room after the last guest and they never changed the towels or sheets like the information they gave said they would

Could use a bit more amenities. The kitchen was basically bare until we asked the Concierge for some dishes and cooking things. He was able to bring us a few basics. We loved the little balcony but there were no chairs or table out there so we had to haul the dining chairs out.
Good location, felt safe and was close to shops, restaurants, and public transit. Nice little balcony to watch the world go by on the street below, modern, clean, and well maintained. Concierge was friendly and helpful; even without any English he worked really hard to communicate with us.

Pillows were not really comfy. No soap in the dispenser in the bathroom, meaning they should check the levels before a new guest comes in.

one side of outside street area was a bit rough and had a handful of strange characters around . The construction was to staring at 8 am.

Everything was OK, according to expectations. There is a construction site next door, so it´s very noisy since 7 AM, but it´s OK. I ´ll stay again if I´m coming back.

The rooms are extremely noisy - from the street, the neighbour room and the old motors of the air conditioners outside the window. We asked for another room and it had been the same bad experience. The kitchen facilities are old and partially do not operate. The sofa in the living room is uncomfortable. Impossible to sit on more than couple of minutes.

The swimming pool was dirty, not usable. I gave low score because of this. I choose this apartment because of the swimming pool and pay a bit more for this additional service. Unfortunately the water of the pool was terribly dirty and not superficial dirt from trees. The water was clearly not treated for long time. If the swimming is not usable, they should not advertise the listing as apartment with swimming pool cause is very dissapointing and misleading

Floor was dirty/dusty. Shower leaked water all over floor so bathroom constantly wet. Pool not filled with water only a third full second day and half full third day. First day it was a greenish colour so it looked like it had algae growing in it. Made me think it was under chlorinated. Unhappy that I paid a high premium for a place with a pool only to be unable to use it.

The pool was green and with algae. The kitchen had no pots or pans. The kitchen had no cloths for drying the hands. The bathroom had no hand soap and no shower gel. The bathroom had no ventilation. The towels provided were small and insufficient. The shower wet the entire bathroom. The balcony was dirty. The terrace was dirty. The cushions of the terrace chairs were dirty. I told the reception about these things and nothing was done. Nothing changed, no apology, no compensation. Neither the host/property nor booking.com compensated me in any way or refunded me. I asked Booking.com to intervene and they said “we cant offer you any sort of refund or compensation. We hope you can accept our apology” I was scammed. Do not book this property. There are many other listings in much better conditions that don’t scam their hosts.

nobody was there at check-in for us (we followed all the instructions perfectly, but obviously the bell didn't work!!!! ...we had to phone them and wait a long time, after a very long journey, so this was really frustrating... Also, the 'swimming pool' is an absolute joke! The apartment was very basic, poorly furnished and very tired.
good location (and they did change our room to a higher level to ensure it was quieter)
