My room was very hot during the summer heatwave and the fan could not prevent an uncomfortably sticky night.

The hotel is located on a busy road and you may need to use the subway to get to the town centre during the day. But the town centre and all the restaurants are all close by. It is an old building but the rooms, fixtures and corridors have real character and it is very well maintained. Found the staff helpful. Good breakfast available.

We had a room at the top of the hotel and it was very, very hot. No air conditioning but there was a standing fan. ( ( (Although rather noisy ). Basic breakfast but this was included in the price.

It would have been better if there had been a kettle and coffee making facilities in room. Very hot room with no air -con but the July weather was hot.

Air conditioning would have been a bonus because the room was still very hot even after sunset.

We stopped here on our way from Milan to Salzburg. It is a delightful small town with many old buildings and non-multiple shops. The reception staff were very welcoming and efficient. Our room was nice and spacious, in the old part of the hotel, and the beds comfy. Although it looked out onto a busy road two sets of double glazing ensured it was quiet. Even though we arrived late (after 9 pm) we were still able to get good cooked meals in the Keller bar of the hotel. The barman was very helpful and pleasant despite our communication difficulties. Breakfast was excellent. There was a really good range of hot and cold food, including hard and soft boiled eggs.

The bed was hard, pillows useless and a very poor sleep at Hotel Garni Baren. I could not get any hot water to come through in the shower. It is close to the rail station but on a busy street. The room was big, the breakfast adequate but I would not stay there again. Some of the staff would have made a better impression if they smiled.

    Bathroom

Old hotel near city center with a lot of character. Neat place with restaurants and bars nearby but the bathroom situation could be better in the rooms. Our room happened to be on the top floor with a severe slant so showering was interesting being that I am 6’3”. The pub in the basement is incredible and should be seen if you are staying here. Felt like I was in the bar scene of Inglorious Bastards.

The on-site parking was not free as advertised, so we had to pay extra to park underneath the complex in secure parking. We were not able to use the outside free parking as there was a bus coming that afternoon (then we saw other cars parked there). The rooms are a bit older style and may be due for renovation.

The hotel was very well positioned, within easy walking distance to the castle and the old town. The room was large and comfortable. The staff were very nice.

Bed and pillow were too soft for me. The toilet initially had an unpleasantly strong and pungent odour (of urine) which had dissipated by the time I left in the morning. I didn't report the incident, which on reflection I probably should have done.

Everything, from breakfast to room condtions was more than expected and worth the price. If you want to stay in a traditional family hotel, visit Liechtenstein in a day trip and enjoy Austria country side, this is the right place. The property is easy to reach too, being placed on main road, at ~10 min. walk from Feldkirch Railway Station and 1-2 minutes from a bus station with direct links to Liechtenstein via lines 11 and 14. Vaduz and Feldkirch maps can be obtained at the reception. All staff is glad to help and respond to your questions. All in all, a very welcoming place !

A tiny nitpick: I was there alone, so they only put one (fairly thin) pillow on the big bed. I'm sure I could've requested another, but I was far too tired from traveling to bother. Consider asking for an extra when you check in.

The location was perfect for my needs. It was about a 5-minute walk from the train station and directly across the street from the city center. A block away, there is a tasty restaurant open very late -- even on Sundays. The included breakfast (especially the cheese!) was a nice start to the day.

It’s a bit pricy for the size of the town, but I don’t really know enough about Austrian tourism to say whether or not it is competitive.

Maybe AC would be needed in a hotel of this class. And the electric socket was very discreet, in a time where one has constantly some device to charge.

The room was really huge, especially compared to other, more modern hotels. Bicycle storage place in the underground garage, for a fee of 1.5 euros. Very helpful woman at the check-in desk not only produced a needle and thread but also did a sewing repair for us! Very close to the attractive altstadt and to a short walk along the river. Liechtenstein is so close that we biked to Vaduz in an hour. The cost of this hotel was 2/3 what a comparable hotel would be nearby in Liechtenstein or Switzerland.

There's "character" in spades at this hotel, provided you stay in one of the old rooms. The breakfast was really good and the location - easy walking distance from both the station and the town - was exactly what we needed. There was a lift, too.

The hotel is situated in a very good location for station and walking to the town but it is located on a busy corner and therefore if opening a window it is noisy.

The Hotel Bären has the charming ambience of an older style hotel with interestingly furnished rooms. The staff are very polite and considerate At breakfast there is a generous selection served in an attractive breakfast room. The bathroom had a bath.
