A bit noisy the night we stayed.

Wonderful views and spectacular restaurant. The staff made you feel right at home. Room was comfortable with a nice balcony. Breakfast was of a good standard.

We didn't get much help from the staff in terms of advice on places to go. We later discovered from the tourist office that they should have given us a local pass. The shower was pathetic - no pressure in the water.

The view and the location are superb.

The building and interior are dated, but the view makes up for it, plus it's a convenient place when hiking the circular Alpe Adria Trail.

Beautiful view over the Castle Ruins, Faaker See, and greater Villach area. Good breakfast including great pesto and mini mozzarella balls. It has a nice terrace with the same lovely view with lots of dinner options.

I asked for late check-in by sending an electronic mail to the property, but never received an answer. A simple call did the trick, though. We arrived just before nine in the evening and were really pressed for time, since they close the restaurant at nine. Also, the service at the restaurant was somewhat slow and food was nothing special. I centainly expected more in this regard. Getting to and from the property by public transportation is practically impossible, so we ended paying 30 euros for a taxi ride back into the valley.

I hiked the 21. stage of Alpe Adria trail from Velden am Wörthersee to Baumgartnerhöhe with friends, so the property was a logical place to sleep, since it sits right at the end of the stage. The view from the apartment was spectacular and both the sunrise and the sunset can be seen magnificently. The hotel shows its age, but it seems that it has been cared for during the years, which gives it a rustic feel. The location can also be a great start for hikes further into the Karawanks.

Incredible views of the valley below. Tons of hiking trails around. Too bad it was pouring rain the day we were there.

Staff was rushed and very abrupt. No 'welcome', just a 'fill out this form' and keys handed to us.

    Comfortable bed and spacious room

Not a good place for a direct transit stop and approach difficult at night or in winter

Great site for mountain views and walks

Wi-Fi (which was free) didn't always work in rooms however you were welcomed to use it in common areas where it was good.

Our view was amazing! Direct view of a ruined castle, mountains, lakes, towns...fabulous. The restaurant also had a free telescope if you wanted a closer look. The room was well set up for 5 people. The staff spoke enough English to communicate effectively and were pleasant and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and both were delicious and authentic. The dining area was gorgeous.
