Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

We stayed for the second time. The staff was very nice, good choice at the breakfast. Good price for the location. We stayed just for a stop during our trip through Europe.

Our stay at the hotel was absolutely wonderful. The staff is extremely friendly and made us feel like part of the family. I highly recommend this hotel and even small things like the soap were better than in most other hotels. The location is also good since it's walking distance from the St. Margrethen train station in Switzerland and there is a bus stop right outside for going to Bregenz.

We couldn't find kettle or small fridge in the hotel room which is something very useful to have when travelling with small child
We loved this hotel, super clean, staff incredibly helpful. We stayed here for one night whiles travelling and it met all our expectations. We managed to have a dinner at the restaurant within the hotel and food was delicious. Great selection for breakfast too.

Really good value for money. Excellent breakfast We did not try the restaurant at the evening, as we have found just at the opposite corner of the square a small place full with local people, where we felt more at ease.

Slightly over priced for the level.

Very pretty hotel conveniently located close to the border of Switzerland. We stayed for a night on our way to France and the room was spacious, clean and well stocked with loads of goodies! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast had a nice selection of warm and cold food. The best plus for us is that the hotel is dog friendly!

The A/C could only work with a tilted window which is an ecological nonsense. Quite far from the lake by bike

Was a bit hot in the room at times. The provided portable ac unit wasn't much help, but we didn't complain.
Staff was the best! Breakfast delicious and varied. Convenient location. Loved the people of the city. The mayor was super, Eric at the museum exceptional.

It would have been nice to have a coffee and tea station in the room. Also, the lack of black-out curtains on the windows made it hard for our daughter to go to sleep (and just putting down the shutters for darkness made the room unbearably hot).
Nice breakfast, and very nice staff. Good amenities in the room. Was great to have a secure room to lock our bikes.

Breakfast was a little disappointing - eggs were overcooked and dry
Very warm and welcoming staff, and the evening meal in the restaurant was exceptional, as was the service from the waitresses. The receptionist was very smiley and happy and allowed us to park our bikes in their garage. Highly recommended.

Parking can be tricky if hotel restaurant is busy. Miniature step to exit bathroom, perfect for hitting your foot.
Staff and breakfast are great. Room is good too.

Our room was on the top floor so had the sloping roof, which meant I hit my head and the room was bit dark for me but no complaints
Very warm welcome at the reception, although we arrived a bit late we missed the dinner reservation on the first night. The breakfast was very good with a great selection and choice. The dib=nner was fantastic on the second night and disappointed that we missed the 1st night. The beds were comfortable and would use this hotel again.
