How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewThe stuff was friendly and helpful.
We stayed at Hotel Goldene Rose during our LechWeg walk, starting in Dalaas and ending in Fussen. Unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. Our room with a balcony was outdated and in need of renovation. The overall condition of the hotel did not meet our expectations, especially considering the price we paid. The beds and pillows were extremely uncomfortable, which affected our rest. Additionally, there was no fridge in the room, which was inconvenient. The breakfast was quite average. We found ourselves needing to prepare our own fried and boiled eggs, which felt a bit lacking given the overall price. We believe that a certain level of effort and quality should be expected when paying this amount of money. Regrettably, we would not choose to stay here again and recommend looking for other options that offer better value, comfort, and amenities.
DearGuest! Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your stay did not fully meet your expectations. Please note that the room you booked is shown exactly as pictured on our booking page. If you were looking for a more modern room, our Premium Double Rooms would have been the better choice. As a 3-star hotel, we do not provide fridges in rooms, as this is not part of the official standard for our category. Many of our guests appreciate the breakfast buffet, especially the option to prepare eggs individually – just the way they like them. We’re happy you found our staff friendly and helpful. We’re sorry we couldn’t fully meet your expectations. Best regards,

Verified reviewThe breakfast was pretty decent. The restaurant was really good with good beer and food and nice staff. It's a very kids friendly hotel, with spacious room, garden and dining area.
The rooms are big but poor ventilation. The curtains are so thick that they don't let in any air. There should be fans or air-conditioning. The sauna area was open for very limited hours and the steam/turkish sauna was not working. There were 4 fitness equipment, with only 2 working.

Verified reviewthe rooms were a decent size, the bathroom was spacious with a walk-in shower, and the free onsite car park was very convenient. Breakfast was okay, but there weren’t many options suitable for Muslims, as we don’t eat pork.
What I didn’t like was that there was no air conditioning or fans in the room, which made it uncomfortable during warmer weather.

Verified reviewClean and conveniently located for an overnight in Austria on our road trip from Germany to Italy . Restaurant in hotel and a good breakfast
We had a few challenges with dinner & service around the dinner. Namely there was a fly fried into the schnitzel! They brought a replacement meal and that was ok. Overall the food for dinner was not great.

Verified reviewVery good room, excellent bed.
The restaurant was not all that. Slow on service, though friendly. Desert took 40 minutes to arrive, and then was not what we ordered…. For lunch I had a Wurstsalat, which was far too acidic (and I generally like it quite acidic).

Verified reviewUnexpectedly spacious room, comfortable beds, large balcony, friendly and humorous staff. Simply magnificent views from the window (if your room overlooks the mountains). (Perhaps some furniture is a bit old and visibly worn, but still acceptable quality).
Small selection of food for breakfast.

Verified reviewRoom was perfect, very large with good views, bed was cosy. Lots of storage space. And pretty balcony. Lech is in small walking distance.
Breakfast - not lot of options to choose from, coffee felt bit weak. Not many warm options. Personally dont reccomend it - everything else was perfect tho.

Verified reviewLarge room, well appointed to fit a cot. Great food at the restaurant and good breakfast.
Close to a slightly noisy street, so leaving windows open at night is difficult.

The staff were very unfriendly in the restaurant. The restaurant is busy but they did not treat us well and ignored us for 15 minutes when we sat down for dinner. When I asked to see a menu , a lady screamed at me “ one minute “ they then took another 10 minutes to bring a menu and were unpleasant throughout the whole dinner. We had driven for 6 hours so couldn’t be bothered going anywhere else. There was a staff member that was nice to us and took the time to explain the menu, it was all in German and we are from Australia so couldn’t read it. The breakfast was ok but again one staff member was awful and one was nice. We have stayed in about 8 different places in Germany, Austria, Prague, Amsterdam over the last two weeks and this was the one that we would not go back to.
