How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. I didn’t like it at all, staff were not helpful and aggressive and the property was dirty as soon as arrived we were shocked with the bad odor in the breakfast area and then the WC and toilet which were dirty

We take all guest comments seriously and would like to clarify a few points for future guests: Before your arrival, and even before completing the self check-in, you informed our staff by phone that you would leave a negative review. This was in connection with the mandatory city tax, which is clearly stated in the booking conditions and applies to all guests. During these conversations, both our office staff and later our housekeeping staff experienced behavior from you that was very rude and confrontational. Regarding cleanliness, the room was inspected prior to your arrival and met our standards. After you raised a concern about the toilet, our housekeeping team immediately re-cleaned it within minutes. At the same time, the breakfast area was checked as well, and no unpleasant odor could be confirmed by our staff present. Our team made every effort to address your concerns quickly and professionally. At the same time, we kindly remind all guests that respectful communication with staff is essential. The entrance door slamming every time someone walks in or out. Walls are super thin and I could hear the pipes, toilet flushing, showers, etc. I would also suggest fly screens on the windows as it gets super hot and you can't open the windows at night as you'd get eaten by mosquitoes. It was also very loud till midnight as people just didn't care about others staying.

not a fan of online Check ins, No staff until morning breakfast. coffee etc. was extra, breakfast basic. room as outside was very hot no AC, no Fan, no one to ask if one was available. on-site parking was only for about 6 cars, (no spaces left) even though we got there for 3pm. there were paid for parking up the hill, or free on street parking back along the road, but all the close ones were full, I managed to find one about 300metres from Hotel, be aware there is a area in the middle of this street parkin area were you can't park and there are "tow away" signs, Why ???

For this price there should be at least a kettle in the room. Given the fact that there is enough place for it. Minibar would be great as well, but not mandatory. Yes, you can buy glass of hot water for several euros in the vending machine in the kitchen, but it's really ridiculous. And there is no instruction about it, so It wasn't obvious at all.

Verified reviewZell am See is a great location with lots around to do. The breakfast served was a great way to start the day. The new Guest card that is provided for all stay in Saltzberger land was great for getting around with free transport on Trains, buses and trams.
It was not clear at booking that this accommodation is not part of the Zell am See - Kaprun card scheme that provides travel on the lake and up the cable car. The hotel is located on the busy through road in Zell and the traffic noise meant we could not leave our windows open at night to cool down. It was very hot when we were there and the room heated up alot.

We had to pay lots of money to park somewhere else, because there are only 4 parking spaces in front of the accommodation, and funny enough, there is one reserved for staff. We called the emergency number to get assistance during the night, no answer. The building is old, shower door broken, bathroom handle falling everytime you use it. Our towels were not changed in 3 days. Breakfast is very poor, with undrinkable coffee. Bed sheets had old blood stains. It is weird to have no one to talk to or ask help from. You do the self check in fast, tho.
