The location is lovely, the river and beautiful tree lined street is lovely after a day on the road. The heritage building was well maintained . Our motel room was spacious with separate lounge newly refurbished. Aircon in lounge and bedroom new and would be great as summer arrives. Definitely would recommend as value for money and perfect location.

Just old school..

A perfectly adequate motel , & an amazing building from 1850s. Pretty basic, but adequate, nice helpful staff. Don't expect modernity! Good for budget traveller's who like classic buildings.. Close to buses to Yeppoon for ferries to Gt Keppel Island.. Really good restaurant Queensland style..( steaks, meat, but with vege options!)

because of it'd location, there was no parking till after 6.00pm. because they had no lifts, at age 82 it was a big climb to the 3rd floor. However they did offer me a room on the second floor ,but it had no balcony

The room had no electricity sockets for recharging phone and having the share toilet with other rooms The room had a huge dead cockroach in the corner near shower .. Yuk!

The food was excellent. Bed was comfortable For me it would only suit a sleep over

The dining menu didn't include things like toasted sandwiches or basic meals like bangers and mash. The prices were too high for what you got. There are no lifts to upstairs which made it extremely difficult for guests with mobility disabilities.

The outdoor area of the motel was excellent. Very clean. The room was very clean and comfortable. The secure parking was great.

The lack of a chair in the room meant that I had to sit on the end of the bed to do anything.

View from room onto a blank wall not very inspiring. Probably needs a bit tender loving care and maintenance to bring it up to date.

Better lighting in the room would be great. Very dim pendant lights. Perhaps a bar or strip light in the bathroom would be help.

Dripping tap, no shampoo. Exiting through front door it took me a moment to realise had to give the door a shove to open.

We had the family suite with ensuite on the second floor in the motel section out the back, and for two people it was lots of room. It only has one very small high window but we did not notice after a while. No kitchen or cooking allowed in the rooms which we knew, just a microwave for reheating food and kettle to make a tea or coffee, but most people probably eat in the bistro ( which we did not try but it looked popular with locals ). Good secure parking for guests behind a remote gate, no need to.park on the street. Saturday night we were there was a band playing until 1am which was fine, they were actually a good band. The rooms in the older part of the hotel would be a more authentic olde world Aussie pub experience, but they only have a shared bathroom. The old pub grand foyer and stairway is impressive. Overall a good comfy and inexpensive spot for one or two nights, handy to the riverside walks, heritage buildings and shopping. The new Art Museum a few minutes walk away is worth a look too, and free.

Carpet floor in the room and everything is quite old (tv, AC). However it is a personal choice. Just be careful for allergies people

Location and facilities. The motel has a clean bathroom and comfortable room. The pub and restaurant are very old and have quite a nice bar. I definitely recommend drinking a beer there.
