Well, for some reason I had to pay at the property as well as paying through booking.com. Now I’ve paid double for a room and can’t get any funds back. I don’t think I should have been the one to be out of pocket if the hotel is having issues with booking.com, it should have been a matter between them not me. I have cancelled the rest of my reservations with the Empire hotel, which is a shame.

I’ve stayed here quite a few times, but this was my last.

We stayed in the Japanese room, it's beautiful, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The "Shared Living" space is excellent, nicely decorated to suit the era of the hotel and a great place to sit and watch a movie in the evening. The downstairs restaurant offers a great menu with everything from gourmet share plates to traditional pub style food. We highly recommend this as a great place to spend a few nights to explore all that the surrounding area has to offer

Upon arrival I was very hungry but too exhausted to eat in the restaurant. This wasn't a problem at all and I enjoyed a lovely meal in my pjs.

The steak dinner was fabulous. Would go back there just for the food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hot cider was delicious. We were upgraded to a larger room (thank you!)

Deloraine is cold in winter, so be prepared, but that has nothing to do with the hotel. 😎

Mark and Amanda, and the team looked after us really well. It's a quaint old hotel, but it is decorated in style with a lot of local craft and artistic influence and has a comfortable breakfast room upstairs, which provides cerals, and toast etc, but we could also the room anytime to relax, read, play some games, or watch TV. The bed in our room was really comfortable, and the food in the cafe restaurant was superb, with a small menu of great dishes. The charming intimate bar was a lovely place to sit and meet the locals as well as chat with other visitors. It's located on the main street of Deloraine with short walks to many other cafes, specialty shops, and attractions.

Not my first stay, and it definitely won't be my last. It's little things, like goat's milk soap, choccies on the pillow, a lovely simple breakfast - all for a very reasonable cost.

I was made very welcome. The Empire has been beautifully renovated, in keeping with the period of the building. The room was warm and comfortable. The furniture and fittings are well chosen throughout, and some of the wooden carvings are exceptional. I ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, where the food was excellent and well thought out and beautifully presented. I finished up my evening with wine and a book by the open fire in the bar.

Cute little stay, perfect for an overnighter. The platypus tour was a massive success, spotting 4 little guys! Mick (the platypus tour guide) and all staff were super lovely.

N/A - this place was fabulous.

The Empire was a delight. The building itself was enjoyable to wonder around, my room was perfect and the bathroom was large with complementary home-made soap. I stayed for dinner and glad I didn't go out - this was some of the finest food I've tasted in a long time. Visiting for dinner is worth it, even if you are not staying the night. The hospitality was amazing. The very kind staff made me feel like a guest of honour. Loved this place and will stay again. Many times.
