Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe only thing we could complain about was the Restaurant not technically being 'open' for dinner. We did have dinner in the restaurant one night and the meals were excellent and the open fireplace and ambience certainly made up for the reduced menu. The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed what was available.
We stayed in room 11 in early September 2025. We would not normally stay in a place like Islington due to budgetary restrictions, but as this was a special occasion, we splurged. We had stayed here before, so we knew our stay would be special. The Hotel is a magnificent blend of old and new with meticulous gardens and a stunning view of Mount Wellington (it snowed during our stay). The whole stay was wonderful and the breakfast is top-end restaurant quality. The onsite property manager was very attentive and her focus on customer satisfaction made our stay even more enjoyable.

AustraliaA slightly later departure than 10.00 am would have been the icing on the cake, though at no time did we feel pushed to leave - we were able to have a very leisurely breakfast not leaving until 10.30 (and we were not the last guests to leave!).
Absolutely LOVED this hotel. It was our first stay here but it certainly won't be our last! Stunningly appointed with a rich, eclectic and intriguing range of original art works positioned throughout the property. Luxurious rooms, super comfortable bed, views over the immaculately kept garden nestled beneath a snow topped Mount Wellington. Attention to detail with considerate touches. The hotel was stylish, yet felt Intimate and homely. The staff were wonderful too - they couldn't do enough for you. We couldn't have asked for more! Highly recommended, best little hotel in Hobart (and being based in Tassie, we have stayed in most of them!).

AustraliaI have to say this is the best hotel in Hobart, my partner and I get a hotel room 1 to 2 nights a week. From the time you walk in the front door, to when you leave, the staff are welcoming, attentive, and helpful. Breakfast is the Best and it's included in the stay, parking is on-site, easy to find. We'll be back again

AustraliaNot Applicable- everything was perfect.
Amazingly beautiful building and manicured gardens. Comfy beds, beautiful artwork, interesting bespoke furniture and objects d’art delight the senses. There are lots of personal thoughtful touches like treats at bedtime ensured that we felt we were in a tranquil and relaxing setting. The meals and treats were so incredibly yummy- Thank you to the wonderful chef. I wish to thank wholeheartedly all the beautiful staff for their welcome and kind attention to detail. The beautiful lady who welcomed us deserves an extra special thank you. My long time friend & I had a really memorable stay and we are already planning our next stay. We felt thoroughly spoilt - two very happy ladies. In all my years of travel I have never stayed anywhere I enjoyed more than The Islington. Linda & Leeanne

AustraliaIt was a great place, but had some of the items in the room that needed maintenance - such as the air conditioning filter warning light flashing on and off all night, and there was a major crack in the window and a broken fitting in the bath. all of these things were minor and did not detract from an overall outstanding amazing stay.
on arrival the greeting was brilliant- customer service professional staff! warm & welcoming, efficient & friendly, just amazing excellent & highly rated 🙂

AustraliaThis hotel was wonderful, we left wishing we had more time. The check in process was quite personal with a welcome beverage and tour and the staff put in the wood fire place (with marshmallows) for us to cozy up next too while we checked in and later in the evening set us up with a table next to the wood fire to have our take away dinner at the hotel. The service was phenomenal, the room was cozy, the bath was heaven and the grounds were stunning and communal rooms were great to sit and relax or play games. We booked last minute after a horrible experience at another hotel and were just blown away. We had the best, quiet and comfortable night sleep. We will be back, it's such a gem for Hobart.

AustraliaI wish the hotel had a pool but the beautiful rooms, gardens and outdoor areas more than make up for this.
I was very impressed with the hotel's cleanliness, style and aesthetics, from the communal areas to the room itself. For the price we paid for the room, I think we received exceptional value. The staff was great at every interaction and I will definitely come back and stay here again. The location was fantastic; it's truly is a gem in Hobart.
