This place is a VERY social hostel. So if you're here to party and make friends, you'll love this place, and love staying up with your new friends until past 2 AM. Unfortunately, if you just want a place to stay like me, you will not appreciate having people come in and out of your room until past 2 AM... Since as a light sleeper, this made it really hard for me to get proper sleep. Be that as it may, the guests were generally considerate when entering the rooms late at night. Regarding rooms, most beds don't have a power outlet easily accessible from the bed (especially the upper bunks), so you have to ask the staff to lend you an extension cable. Also, this is a suggestion directly for the owners, but I think it would be better to assign bunk beds to people by number, since I had a small incident where a new guest accidentally took my bed since I didn't leave any obviously visible belongings out (which I don't feel comfortable doing). But the staff available at the time helped me get a new bed, so it wasn't a major issue.

As long as you have the "backpacker" mindset when you come (i.e. don't expect luxury, prepare all toiletries you want, bring a pad lock for lockers, etc.), I think this place offers one of the best hostel experiences you can find anywhere. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, and were always willing to help or answer my questions (both via messaging before arriving, and in-person after arriving). I could also tell that they cleaned regularly everwhere (rooms, toilets, showers, etc.), which was a huge relief. The location is also extremely ideal. If you enjoy walking everywhere, you can basically explore the entire free tram zone on foot starting from the hostel, but trams are easily accessible. The breakfast was minimal (cereal or toast + jam, peanut butter, etc.), but you could eat as much as you want and milk and coffee were both free, and having breakfast available helped me save a bit of money. The washer/dryer available was also helpful (and I appreciated being able to buy detergent at reception). Considering all the above, I think the slightly higher cost of this hostel makes it more than worth it.

Plug ins very far from the beds, room is particularly loud as it’s next to the kitchen/common area so i have to wear headphones to bed. Didn’t charge my phone to have them music accessible so i didn’t hear any noise. But now trying to charge my phone everywhere but where I’ve been staying is tough. Seems everyone is doing the same as the plug in’s in the main area are always in use. Original room was a 16 and i spent 120+ a night i think… absolutely mad. Regardless of it being the busiest weekend of the year. Downstairs bathroom smells like piss, it needs more care. :(

It is common that there are no shampoo and shower soap. But there is no hairdryer.

Overall it seems really worn down. A lot of people live there and it's not enough space either in the kitchen or in the rooms. The Aircon was blowing in my face while sleeping..my room was on the top floor so I had to walk with my heavy backpack to the top.. that was already fun. I left just after 6am in the morning and i wasn't able to have a coffee because they close the tiny kitchen. Every door is equipped with a door code which is great, but for the rooms it's such a long code that I can never remember it. I'm sure it could be shorter and better to remember. Especially when you have to go to the toilet during the night. I was only there for two nights and I think for that reason it's totally okay.

The place is good to socialise and meet new people..it's super close to the southern cross, that's why I chose the hostel in the first place. The staff was super friendly

It was under instruction when I stayed so a bit inconvenient for me. Not freshy air and a bit messy around the corners.

The location is amazing, only few minutes across from southern cross station, the kitchen is alright, and shower and bath room is clean.

The property is so clean and close to CBD. It is best for backpackers not for a long term stay. indulge in different cultures.

Kitchen was small for the property and got crowded very easily. Same for the common areas. I actually didn’t like that there was a small common area on each floor — it encouraged groups to congregate there until the early hours. We had a group of noisy boys in the common area on our floor until after 1am. Would be better if the communal areas downstairs could just be enhanced.

Fantastic location. Our private room was clean, basic but comfortable. The toilet and shower facilities had been newly renovated. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.

The kitchen is small for the lot of people that the hostel receives. The bathrooms have got only two showers and are small too.

Excellent location in Melbourne. The street is busy and noisy at any time, so you can hear everything from the room. There are plenty of restaurant, supermarkets and food options in the area. The room was spacious and comfy. However, the carpet was dirty and bed sheets were old but cleaned.

My room was in 4th floor and only stairs the only way to go up.Lucky I had a small luggage.The only problem I had was when during check out when I need to bring down my sheets.It is not a problem but bringing a sheets plus mg luggage and other stuffs it was quite hard for me.If having a laundry basket in each floor that would be great.

I like how it is near to the skybus coach and not that far away to the CBD. Not expensive too.Got free cereal breakfast but I had an early flight so I miss it
