How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was delicious! The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was clean, and even though it was small, it was spacious enough. The common room was good also, with snacks to eat, water, tea and coffee always available. Very good place.

Verified reviewThe staff were honestly the best part of the place, they were super duper nice and available the entire time I was there. The breakfast was not my cup of tea, but it was still amazing for what it was nonetheless and everything was really comfortable and "homey". Met a couple of other really cool travellers as well. Highly recommend for anyone looking to bunk down in Baku for a few days.

Verified reviewAs someone who is from Azerbaijan, I can tell that CHT hostel is the best one to stay in Baku. The staff is very friendly and attentive for their costumers. Bathrooms, rooms are very clean including clean towels, shower gel, soap and the privacy is well protected. Breakfast is everything you can wish for and there is resting room that has unlimited tee, water, sweets and rest. Thank you for everything.

Verified reviewThe room was clean and nice. It had a working AC, however we did not use it as it wasn't that hot at night - we kept the windows open and suprisingly it was quite outside, so I can confirm that the neighbourhood is quite. It is 2 minutes walk from the metro station and 30 minute walk from the city center. There was always somebody at the front desk, they genuinely took care of the place and paid attention on the tidiness. All of the employees were really kind and respectful. The breakfast was amazing, they changed it a bit every day, so there was always something new on the plate. The amount of the food what they give is huge and undoubtedly tasty. We truely felt great there and I highly recommend this place to anybody who is visiting Baku!

Verified reviewThe host Elsen is kind and hospitable host. He made sure things were going right for me. The hostel is next to the metro station, which is convenient for travelling around Baku. The bathrooms were always clean with hot water.

Verified reviewI had an amazing stay at CTH Baku Hostel! Everything was perfect from start to finish. The host truly went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. Although breakfast is typically served at 8:00 AM, I had to leave around 6:00 AM for an early departure. The host kindly packed my breakfast the night before, so I could enjoy it on the way. This thoughtful gesture made my morning so much easier. The location is also fantastic — just a short walk to the bus station and metro, making it super convenient for getting around the city. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and hassle-free stay in Baku!

Verified reviewI like the most (1) Location- it very convenient. The Nizami underground station is just by the hostel, 10 meters away. If anyone walks 20 minutes, will reach Nizami street or 25 minutes walk will reach Old City. Underneath the hostel there is a convenience store called AL. A KFC outlet within 10 metres runs till midnight. Lots of mobile sim vendors within 10 meters. Just take Airport bus from Terminal 1 or 2 . It will drop you at near 28 May metro station and from here just next station is Nizami station by Green line. (2) Breakfast- They serve huge breakfast. It is typically same everyday but quantity is huge. If you take breakfast after 10 am you will happily skip the lunch and can have dinner at Burani restaurant nearby. Staffs are fantastic. The don’t speak English but manageable.
Don’t open door or window, mosquitoes won’t let you sleep. Heavy and elderly people will face problems. It’s at the level 4 but the height is same as level 5 . If you have joint pain, avoid this hostel. No lift.
Oh my! You were magically saved!.. As usual, mosquitoes steal our guests, we can't find them, and the mosquitoes demand a ransom to return them... Of course, we know that they fly illegally above and inside the hostel, and they ignore us in every possible way. So you are so lucky! Next time, please take this into account! We promise to deal with them, we will use special means to calm them down. We apologize for such shameless treatment of you by mosquitoes, we consider this the height of injustice. We will always be glad to see you in the future, we will try to negotiate with the mosquito team during your stay in our sunny Baku so that they do not bother you! All the best! CTH Baku Hostel
