How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewGreat location. Close to the beach. Clean and well looked after. Good WiFi. Bob was very responsive and made us feel very welcome. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this apartment as a great base for a visit to this beautiful island.
Fairly basic, that said, very good value for money. Aircon only in bedrooms. Some of the fixtures and fittings a little tired however we soon realised that this is the norm for Barbados!
Thank you Wendy! It was a delight having you at my accommodation, and to know that your stay was a comfortable and enjoyable one. It's always my pleasure. Very best regards. Bob.

Verified reviewThe apartment was lovely, very clean and spacious and good facilities - kitchen equipment, beach towels etc. Good air conditioning and powerful shower. Bed was very comfortable. Good value for money and nicer than we expected. There were even a few beers/soft drinks in the fridge on arrival. The woman who lives on site let us store our bags and she was so lovely. Bob who met us with the keys was very nice. A few nice places to eat nearby - the Roti Den is really nice, Gazebo beach bar, Mr Vic's was great with live music.
Could only pay in cash - no problem as there is an ATM nearby but would have been good to know beforehand. Quite a hill to walk up from the beach (especially in the heat). No supermarket nearby but easy to get the bus to Holetown/Speightstown/Bridgetown.

Verified reviewWe have been to the south of Barbados before and we’re wanting to explore the west coast independently and without breaking the bank. Yes the property is up a slight hill but we knew that and 5 mins down the hill you can access buses to take you to Holetown and Speightown the areas we spent most of our time, plus the local beach Paynes beach and Local eateries-roti den and de clay oven offering good value food. There is also a small supermarket for food provisions attached to a garage. The apartment was very clean and very well equipped. There is a lovely gazebo in the garden which gets a nice breeze. Comfy extra large/king size bed with soft sheets and air conditioning was very welcomed. The main area doesn’t have AC but we were out all day so it wasn’t an issue for us. In the mornings we enjoyed sitting out on the balcony. Bob made everything really easy. We arrived late on a Sunday and he even kindly took us down the hill to get a few provisions for the next day. The Wi-Fi is excellent there is also a smart tv, laundry area and dishwasher with everything supplied. There was even some Banks beer chilling in the fridge for us. Would definitely stay again.
Nothing.
Thank you Alison! Each one's experience is always valuable to me and am pleased the apartment met your expectations. It was a pleasure having you.

Verified reviewBob was very attentive host. Lives somewhere nearby and often comes. The apartment has everything you need with all the facilities for independent life on the island. From the balcony there was a beautiful view of the sea; the backyard has shaded areas and contains a gazebo with comfortable outdoor furniture.
For the first three days, there was an unbearable strong chemical smell - because of electric air fresheners in every room. When they were removed and ventilated for two-three days, there was a terrible smell of sweat and mustiness, old furniture, especially in main bedroom - it was difficult to tolerate/bare this, it became clear why fresheners were used - to hide this smell. Even the pillows, especially matrass in main bedroom and the closets smelled terrible. It was very hot in the house considering this is not our first time in the Caribbean; the low ceilings and the iron roof made it feel like inside an oven. Lots of noise pollution from the road nearby (quiet busy road); especially in the evenings it was difficult to fall asleep to. In-addition not too far away there was a dog shelter, the dogs were very loud all day and night long. It's not an entire place. There was no privacy at all.
It was with disappointment and amazement in reading the comments of the Guests regarding their experience at my apartment at Holders Hill, St. James. Had these comments not been observed, I would have been under the impression that their stay was a comfortable and enjoyable one, especially having inquired of them on a number of occasions during their stay as to whether all was well. There was no complaint raised by them. That there was an 'unbearable strong chemical smell, as well as smell of sweat and mustiness' could only have been triggered by the fact that the internal cupboards were recently painted, and the use of air fresheners was only in a genuine effort to minimize any undue odor emanating from the painting that could have caused any discomfort. If I were made aware of this, the issue could have been easily resolved. I must add that the matter was since investigated, and there was some difficulty in validating the complaint. In fact there are now new occupants there who have indicated that they are quite comfortable in every respect. Secondly, the country is now emerging from a bit of a heat wave, one of the warmest periods for a while, and this would have contributed to a bit of discomfort which I endeavored to mitigate with the use of fans. As the months advance, the environment becomes a bit cooler. Finally, I am not aware of any dog shelters in the area and the 'barking of dogs all day and night long' unfortunately could not be verified. The complaint represents the first adverse one received in the many years the apartments have been operated. However I thank the Guests for taking the time to provide their comments on their experience. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or discomfort caused, but trust this would not be a hindrance to any planned stay in the future. Sincerely, Bob Morris Owner Morris Apartments
