We were very comfortable in our room which we shared with our 12 year old labrador. Unfortunately, the room was on the 2nd floor and the floor surface very slippery and so I had carry a 30 kiogramme dog up two flights of stairs!

Une personne très desagréable... The hotel was alright, too expensive for the accomodation but thats the price you pay for the lovely village i suppose. 'The host' however did nothing but complain, from the start about the 'simpleness' of the hotel, in order to apparently not only gain sympathy but also justify the the extremely basic levels of service. Its just tiring, when you ask for the wifi code to hear 'oh but its only in the lobby, as is clearly written on booking.com' (?? really?), and regarding the 'free parking' he manages to knocks our door at 7am to say he sees the police at the car, we must get up and move it because of an event that was clearly indicated on posters but according to his information, did not affect our parking spot right in front of the hotel. But after knocking he's nowhere to be found to talk to police, or to indicate how to get to another parking area nearby so basically sending you off in pj's early in the morning into the village, not giving a thing. Then at breakfast he ignores the situation completely. Which is fine with us, just let it be - until at check out the guy starts complaining that we only pay €170 for two nights while the actual price is €200 (according to him, while according to the information it should be 190,-) and even worse, picks a fight about the parking! It was quite a slapstick, right in front of the other guests but quite disgusting at the same time to have to tell the 'host' that we're not interested in discussing his minority complex and that we're happy to leave him thinking that 'its not the Hilton hotel but at least here you get the atmosphere and the food is better here' (yes, he did say that twice during our stay....). So, if you're the type of person who lets their stay get spoilt by a small-minded narcissist who constantly seeks your praise, dont go there because Jacques is your man for doing just that!

The room was a bit small.

The hotel is close to the castle and center of the old town. The free parking is in front of the hotel entrance., but it is not necessarily always available. But there is also a big parking to pay next to the hotel. The view from the room was on the river. The owner is very polite and kind, he prepared us a good breakfast. The bathroom was nice and clean.

There was some electrical machine making noise in the neighborhood, a pity from the silence in the nature of the Ardennes

The room was actually a small apartment

Bathroom doors were cheap plastic sliding concertina that didn't close properly. Not a proper shower. Very poorly fixed shelf in one room, admittedly not the one we had booked due tomour mistake. A little disappointing due to price and the bathroom.

Jaques - the owner. Comfortable beds, breakfast. Quiet location very close to town. Scooter the dog. Single beds.

If you come to La Roche you have to stay here, Jacques the owner is lovely and an amazing chef. The breakfast is magnificent. The rooms are comfortable clean and charming and have everything you need. If you get the chance have dinner in the restaurant, I loved it. The location is also fabulous and there is parking nearby.

Only minor negative points. Creaky bed and no shower but a bathtub (room 2). The hotel attrackts quiet people, but there is little or no interior soundproof insulation, so you can hear guests walking up the stairs or talking in the hallway quite clearly.

Jacques is a lovely host and his personal approach makes this feel more like aB&B than a hotel. Excellent breakfast with local food and gall kinds of different bread rolls (and you can have a fabulous dinner here too). Oh, and the hotel is in the town centre (right next to the Ourthe) which is very convenient.
