Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomGreat location. For facilities, restaurants and bars were literally just around the corner in the town square. For visits, Ypres and Western Front attractions were within 20 / 25 mins (in car).

United KingdomI can't think of anything that I didn't like.
I had a room in the hotel's recently upgraded Guesthouse. Breakfasts were in their popup restaurant whilst the main hotel and restaurant is being upgraded. The food was excellent, and the room (No 8) was excellent too. All of the hotel's facilities are either in, or just off, the main square, making access to Talbot House, the Hop Museum, etc, all within very easy walking distance. The Hotel de la Paix is a family run business, and the owner and staff are all friendly and helpful. My group has stayed with them many times in the past, and hopefully will continue to do so in the future.

United KingdomEverything about my stay was exceptiona;, but I suspect some people would not be so tolerant of the facilities, that are a few yards apart and not contained within 1 building during the current renovations, as of the time of writing, October/November 2024.
The main hotel was currently closed for a major refurbishment, but the adjacent reception area was very welcoming and friendly, check-in was straightforward and the guesthouse accommodation, 40yds from the main hotel was first class. The pop-up restaurant, a 3 minute walk from the guesthouse was very well appointed for providing breakfast and evening meals if so desired. The family run establishment is to be very highly recommended.

United KingdomThe hotel was superb in every way. It is not an exaggeration to say it was the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. The decor was beautiful and extremely tasteful, and the hotel had been recently remodelled at great expense. The room was spacious, warm, tasteful and comfortable, with a ver large and spacious bathroom and walk-in shower (and a separate toilet - something I always appreciate, because if I or my wife is in the shower the other one can use the toilet). The breakfast was absolutely fantastic - a very wide range of fresh fruit, meat, excellent cheeses, yoghurt, pastries, cereals and much more, and also as much coffee, tea, chocolate and fruit juice as we wanted. There is also a restaurant attached to the hotel, and the food we had there was every bit as good as the breakfast, with excellent service and very fair prices. But I think the best part, however, was on our last morning there, when we found that we had parked in the wrong place and our car had been towed away. It would have been extremely difficult for us to get it back, because we weren't sure who to contact. However, Linda, the proprietor, not only did it all for us (and even for her it was quite hard to fid what had happened to the car!), but also gave us a lift to the car pound so that we could get it back. That is service above and beyond what is necessary!
