Room only had one chair (& not all that comfortable). forbidding, always shut, front door. Reception only manned to take the money and supply front door code. Fruit jam finished on first morning and not able to be replenished as the hotel did not have another pot of jam!

Large room - though mainly in the bathroom. The room was a bit dark and we needed the lights on at all times. Quiet location but easy to walk to restaurants and other facilities. Bicycles safely stored inside.

The room was warm. The interior was not very clean. The carpet on the floor looked old/worn and was not clean. The location was very difficult to reach by car. Parking close to the hotel is very difficult to find. Reception was not manned when I arrived (at about 21.30 h). The front door of the hotel was already closed, although I had announced a late arrival.

A great hideaway right in the middle of picturesque and historic Lier, located about 30/40 minutes drive from Antwerp. Very nice location, calm and peaceful, just next to the river. The building is currently undergoing a major modernization. Our room is one of the first redesigned. Style is minimal and authentic with a vintage touch.

The room was nothing like the pictures on booking.com. It was tiny!! No kettle, even though one was shown in photos. There was the previous occupants dirty clothes in the wardrobe and the curtains were hanging off the track. Hard to close the bathroom sliding door too.

The bed linen and towels were very clean

the water to shower appeared cold, we waited long time, then called staff, they told us to wait even longer (and in the meantime let the cold drinking water run down the drain, it was at least a bathtub full of water, which is really a shame), then it was too hot or too cold. That night was very hot, though there was no airco nor ventilation.

    Overall - a bit disappointing.
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • Large Double Room
    • Stayed 1 night

There were no tea and coffee facilities in the room, and there weren't even any water glasses! After a journey a person needs a cup of tea or coffee!!! I would have expected more for the money. I thought there was a restaurant in the hotel but as there was a wedding on the night we stayed I presume it was shut to guests. It was also pretty depressing to have to use the 'tradesman's' door round the back because of the private party. The bathroom was clean and partly refurbished but with a separate WC without wash basin for your hands. Communal carpets were all in need of a good clean or replacment. The bedroom though large was spartan with just the basic furniture. I couldn't connect to the 'free' wi-fi so that was useless.

Breakfast was really good. A wide choice of good quality items including great fresh bread. Hotel was nice and central.

A comfortable hotel in a convenient and quiet location overlooking a canal. The historic building has been fully modernised but retains some old structural features such as exposed timber roof beams. The large breakfast room has several historic period features and opens to gardens to the rear. The bufet style breakfast has a good selection. Remember to take the door access code and your room key with you when you go out, as the reception desk is not always open.

Not a cookie-cutter hotel. It is close enough to the train station to walk if you are not traveling too heavily. Convenient to town square friendly helpful staff, very clean and inviting.

The hot water always takes ages to come through. I hate wasting water and 5 minutes with the shower running first or a cold shower, that's the debate most mornings.

The staff are friendly and service fantastic, with well equipped and comfy rooms. The rams head pillow was a shock to my tired eyes, but made me chuckle after a long day.

The hotel was lovely, very comfortable, with an amazing bath and friendly for our dog. The location was superb, near the heart of the old town and with easy access to parking and hiking on the paths along the old city ramparts bordering the canal. The receptionist was friendly with helpful tips for the area. They were very accomodating and we very much enjoyed our stay - extending one to to two.
