Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe keep coming back to this hotel - it's perfectly placed for a stop en route to the Netherlands and the north of Germany, slightly over an hour after eurotunnel. The rooms in the historic building are big and rich in character. The rooms in the modern building are spacious and well equipped. For families, two rooms can be connected through an internal door. There is ample space to park and the motorway network is not too far away.

Our room was in the modern addition to the hotel. It was very comfortable and having driven up from the alps, the bath was most welcome! A great stop off on the way to the coast as well as having a lovely breakfast with decent coffee!

United KingdomNothing to dislike really. A kettle and tea making facilities in the room would be nice. Would have been very welcome actually and a rather strange thing to be missing in an otherwise excellent hotel.
This is the second time I have stayed here in the last few months. Excellent on both occasions. Spotlessly clean, friendly hosts. Very interesting fragment of the First War battles preserved in the grounds. 40 minute walk into Ypres. Huge free car park. Nice Contintal Breakfat . Good WiFi. Just a really nice hotel run by good people.

NetherlandsAt the time we were there we had some problems getting to Ypres as the road was closed and you could only reach the hotel from one way. Hopefully this will be solved quickly.
We stayed in the new building and it was a nice room very clean. Due to the fact that we were early in the season we couldn’t use the terras and all the other facilities. It is nice however that they take care over the Hooghe Krater which is a remnant of the Great War and you cannot understand the idea that about 100 years ago here men did battle for 4 year over 300 m of frontline.

United KingdomFor some reason we couldn't book in at our ideal time (16.00 hours), and faced a situation of booking in early, or after 20.00 hours. As we were travelling several hundred kilometers, the early book in wasn't feasible, but we never really understood the late book in - we really needed some rest
This was a return visit to the Hotel Kasteelhof 'T Hooghe, because we had liked being there the first time. We enjoyed our visit again, and the rooms and location works for us. Good breakfast and helpful advice provided

United KingdomThe only negative was that there was no tea/coffee facility in the room
Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and good size rooms. Free parking on the premises. Very nice continental breakfast, more than enough choice. Host was very pleasant and looked after us personally. Very historic location which is why we chose to stay there. It is about 4 miles from the centre of Ypres.

United KingdomI don't think there was anything negative about my stay here.
We had an excellent night's sleep, the bathroom was great, the hotel was really easy to find and right on our route from Germany to Dunkirk, the location was perfect for getting into Iepres in the evening, the breakfast was lovely, the staff were very helpful and friendly. We loved the old building and the atmosphere. It was fascinating to wake up in the morning to find the hotel is in the grounds of a World War I battlefield. I would definitely recommend this hotel, also for a longer stay.

United KingdomEven though the room we stayed in was nice. We would of liked to of stayed in the original building as that's why we picked that hotel in the first place.
The croissants at breakfast were very nice along with the bread rolls. The location was perfect, right in the centre of the area we wanted to be in to visit the war trenches, graves and memorials

Czech RepublicNothing bad to say at all.
Everything was great. Breakfast was excellent. Staff spoke English very well. Trenches in the hotel grounds, two minutes from Sanctuary Wood, Hooge crater museum next door. As we were visiting to see First World War stuff, this place was amazing. Memorabilia all around the hotel. Definitely coming back.
