How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewBreakfast very nice, especially the home made bread. Eggs cooked to order otherwise no hot food. muesli and fruit. cheese and ham. croissants. Some weird juices and teas. Room small but adequate and quiet with tree view. All staff very friendly and English spoken. Easy walk into town and restaurants (best to book first). Onsite Restaurant listed in Michelin so not large meals (which was relief!) and very nicely served. The chef is fond of 'mousses'. Small set menu of the day plus some extra dishes - see webpage
Bedside light is hard to read by. Parking difficult, only 4 spaces. the chef does not properly cook fish all through so it was still a bit raw. No drinks menu - recommendations by server - if you have to ask the price you can't afford it! When the quay has been finished outside it will improve the site and possibly the parking.

Verified reviewBreakfast was great. Restaurant looks cozy. Actually we booked this hotel for the restaurant but my fault that I Didnot think we need to make reservation too early. When we asked for reservation on the morning of our travel day (by sending message in booking), we did not hear anything back and still not. When we checked in, we asked about dinner but was told there was no table available, which was a pity. The breakfast was convincingly good, so we might try the restaurant next time when we stop by (and book early), but we will not stay in the hotel again due to the reasons listed below.
Biggest problem is: There is no door for the bathroom (at least for room 204 we stayed). Even not a cheap door curtain, super uncomfortable. The room is facing a river which has ugly construction. This is different with the website description of “Graden view” and “courtyard view” for the ‘standard double or twin room’. In general, things that do not match with the website descriptions: the room 204 doesn’t feel like 25 square meters, it felt smaller. On the photos online, there are doors on the bathroom. Is room 204 the only one which doesnot have a door for bathroom but we were charged the same (155euro), or does the website only show the photos from a best room and hiding the facts for other rooms? The sound situation is also bad. There is a train rack along the river , and train sometimes horn when passing by, including 6 am. Hotel is in an old house with bad sound insulation doesn’t help, can hear kids jumping upstairs. Bed is too soft. All these do not help for good sleeping quality.

Verified reviewThe staff is friendly. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent. They booked a deluxe room, which was huge. The hotel is within walking distance from the train station (close to Brussels). It's a basic hotel.
The room's floor was shallow, and the beds were uncomfortable. The hotel is a bit outdated, and my room needs refurbishing.

Verified reviewgreat place with wonderful kitchen and good service. Location close to the center. Rooms spacious en clean. modern bathrooms
surprised to hear that 30€ was invoiced for a late check in. First time in my life with 100 hotel nights a year since 10y
Dear Robert, thank you so much for the positive feedback. That is really appreciated. Concerning the late Check-in there is a simple reason. As we are a 3 star hotel our reception is only open for several hours per day. Also the working hours for our team are calculated that way. If someone has to stay longer due to a late check-in the hours have to be payed as well. We hope that we could give you an understandable reason for the issue that you brought to our attention. Verified reviewVery nice staff, good location, excellent breakfast made with top-quality ingredients and the croissant is world-class. Parking is a bit tricky, but even manageable with a minivan.
