For the price there is nothing we could fault with our stay.

We had a twin room which was a decent size, tastefully decorated and good value for money. The location was perfect being only 5 minutes walk from the 2 main squares, canals/ boat ride starting point, restaurants, museums, bars and chocolate shops. Even the furthest location we had planned to visit was within 20 minutes walk. Yet it was a quiet location. There was a comprehensive and plentiful breakfast buffet which was frequently topped up. The hotel also had a stylish small bar plus a drinks and snack machine and water cooler available 24/7. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They made us feel very welcome.

Unfortunately, the heater could not be adjusted, so it was quite hot. Opening the window could be very noisy, so the air conditioning had to be kept on constantly.

Marie at reception was incredibly helpful prior to arrival and when we checked in. Housekeeping excellent, super breakfast with a wide variety of items to suit any dietary requirements. Bed comfortable (room 124).

Thin walls - could hear the guests in the room across the hallway laughing and making a ruckus at night, had to knock on their door to tell them to be quiet.

There was no soundproofing from outside noise, so we could hear everything going on outside the bars nearby in the evening, which made it difficult to sleep.

To be super picky, the en-suite door didn’t close to seal the room fully, it slid across and left a small gap. Not a broken door but a flaw in the design. So we put music on when I nipped to the loo, haha! There was also a humming sound coming from somewhere in the dead of night - onnnnn / off / onnnnn / off - the same pattern over and over. It was really quiet and could only be heard in the middle of the night when everything was still. It wasn’t intrusive but I just noticed it on waking in the night. We put music on quietly the 2nd night though just to sound it out. We still gave 9/10.

We paid a budget price but got way more than we expected. The building’s exterior and interior were lovely. The location was perfect - we were going to stay near the station given Bruges is only 20mins walk across but this location allowed us to nip back for coats within 5mins from the main sites, or nip to the supermarket a few mins away and put stuff in the fridge in the room. And the 2 girls we spoke too were super helpful and friendly. Bruges seems to close at 6pm, everybody just disappears and lots of bars and restaurants close (we went first week of March) which was a bit odd. The first night we got drunk in an empty place. The second night we found a lovely little art house cinema on the next street - Lumiere - and watched Dune 2.
