Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Teodora is a sweet heart helping us with everything we need, every time we come to Balcik. Big room with a stunning sea view, very clean, comfortable beds, with air-conditioning, a fridge and a TV. The pool is very clean and has a perfect water temperature. Easy access to the seafront and near the entrance of Queen's Mary botanical gardens. Near the hotel is also a minimarket. Every year is a pleasure to come back!

BulgariaBring enough cash as the payment is cash only. There are ATMs around but low-fee ones are very hard to find.
Amazing view, very nice room and patio, great comfortable mattress. The hotel has its own swimming pool. It's merely a few minutes to the beach and the botanical gardens. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.

HungaryThe bedsheets are too little, impossible not to remove them from the bed, if you make even one move. The trash bin also very small, one big trash bin in front of the building would help a lot.
Perfect curtains - they shut out the light perfectly. It is not possible to search in booking.com for "completely dark room", but if you look for that, it is the place. As the windows are also good, you have to deal only with the sound of the fridge and the A/C, Both work well. The pool is enough big, it works longer as it is posted, enough chairs around it. The sea is enough close, the stairs towards it are not so bad. The view is nice, the terrace is enough big.. Restaurants, shops are close. Really good place to stay. Our 4 days flew away quickly.

Bulgaria-we didn't experience any
All the staff were very friendly and patient. We were staying in the renovated part of the hotel and we had a great sea view. There are stairs in front of the hotel leading to the sea. Bare in mind that I didn't find Beach in Balchik ( in the convinient meaning of Beach) there are platforms to go to the water and there very little sandy parts. It is hard to find space to park in the city, that was the reason why we have choosen this hotel-it is extremely convinient. The hotel is very close to the main road as well, so it is easily accessible. Location wise - just next to the palace and the botanical garden. Just across the street there are few Supermarkets. A suggestion - just a water kettle would be very very nice!

LithuaniaSun beds in the pool area could be updated with mattresses. AC was stopping working on every early morning as there are some kind of time settings which you could not change. WI FI was not working.
Room was spacious and clean, had very nice balcony with a sea view which we enjoyed the most. Location is nice and green, but keep in mind that you have to climb quite a lot of steps if you want to reach the sea or the main restaurants. The staff was very operative and friendly, helped with all the questions we had. This hotel is really worth the money you pay and we enjoyed our stay.

BulgariaParts of the hotel were not used and it felt like like a ghost place a bit. It was an old communist hotel with restaurants and cafes, which were closed. It has great potential but needs a lot more investment. It's great for a short stay, but I would not come back and spend a longer time.
The receptionist was super friendly and polite. The view from the room was amazing. Quiet place for great sleep. The place was basic but clean. It was very close to the botanical garden, but not so close to the city.

RomaniaIt is very annoying to have no breakfast options or at least a functional automatic coffee machine to get a coffee in the morning. There should be at least a kettle and some instant coffee / teas in the room. The administration is blaming it on corona regulations, truth is there is obviously a lack of interest to provide further services. Why bother when its so convenient to just cash in without investing / repairing / paying for further staff. Pool was supposed to be ready on the 1st of june but was not. The hotel should invest in repairing the stairs that go down to the seaside promenade and install some lights there, as they are super shabby and very dark at night. These stairs are the only way of access to the sea. There is only one other road at the other end of Balchik, so taking the road is a minimum 30 min detour. For older people or parents with a stroller that makes it very problematic to spend the evening on the promenade, and not everyone goes to the beach in a fat ass car. There s an obvious lack of interest to invest and repair which is a good thing and a bad thing for this hotel. Any modernization would probably make it extremely ugly and destroy the original elements, like everything else on the whole Balkan coast. There is no real reason to visit Balchik other than the Queen's palace and gorgeous gardens, which they also managed to destroy by taking over the space in front with disgusting hotels and restaurants. 0 interest to protect historical heritage, though they already make tones of money with the super expensive entrance fee.
Old school hotel living from its old school charm. Gorgeous location with breathtaking views from the rooms facing the sea. Further away from the seaside promenade, quiet, immersed in the green. The ground is built in stones, old school garden lamps, old school benches, old school playground so its a really charming experience for nostalgics of 60s-70s architecture (just a guess, i couldnt find any info about the history of the hotel). The lady from the reception was extremely nice and helpful. The view of the rising moon over the sea makes the price worth it (which is otherwise totally blown up for such a hotel, but all the prices in Balchik are blown up).
