Limited room accessories, i.e. very small desk - uncomfortable for working, TV set, bathroom facilities.

Nice restaurant - cafe terrace. Nice food and drinks at reasonable prices. Excellent breakfast. Room rates. Nice room air conditioning.

We spent only one night at the hotel Forum. It was good for it's price. The room is small but enough to stay for one night if you plan to walk all day and just return to sleep. It'll take you 10 minutes to go by taxi to the city center and half an hour to the airport. You can exchange money at the hotel - very comfortable as there are no ATMs in the vicinity and cash is preferable for payment in the taxis and some shops. The breakfast was quite good. The personnel is very friendly and are always ready to help.

The mattress is smaller than the bed and that’s why it is moving all the time. The size of the mattress does not correspond to the size of the bed.

    Weekend city break in Sofia

    • Solo traveler

The minibar had a weird smell, maybe one should more often clean the fridges. Room doors are not soundproof, you can hear if there is any action going on in the corridor (I had neighbors close to my room who were staying in more rooms and constantly knocked on each other's door and spoke on the corridor - it was somewhat annoying).

Good location, city centre easily accessibly with trams 4 and 5 within 10 minutes. The terminus of bus 64 is also very close to the hotel, providing easy direct access to Boyana church. Breakfast was very good, lots of choices. Big supermarket just next door. Generally a clean hotel, perfect for a short city break in Sofia.

The only fault was perhaps the cleanliness of the bathroom, it had an unpleasant odour but was otherwise clean. I personally didnt love the breakfast either but it was enough to start the day.

Really great hotel, the staff spoke really good English and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a good time. Any bookings we made for activities they would happily call the venue ahead for us, ensure that we had maps and taxis went to the correct place, ensured we didnt get taxis that ripped us off. Anything we asked for they tried to provide. They always asked how our day went. Such lovely people. Room was comfortable,

There were parties in the hotel restaurant on two out of the three nights we were there. Loud music continued well into the early hours of the morning, until 4 am on the second occasion accompanied by a lot of action in the residential part of the hotel. In short, too noisy to sleep well and speaking to the staff did not help. Perhaps it was bad luck as I have had better experience on previous visits. I would advise the management to consider the needs of hotel guests and not just the profitability of the restaurant. Is it too early to end a loud party at midnight?

The hotel is conveniently located, clean and comfortable overall

There were marks and holes in the walls, in the bathroom there was mold and no bath math and after a shower it is dangerous to walk if case you slip over. There was an unpleasant smell in the room so we kept our balcony door open all the time. The twin beds for a couple are quite apart so we had to sleep on one if we wanted to be close to each other. I asked the staff two time about something from the restaurant and they kept sending me in it but there was no staff there to help me, so we had dinner out and coffee the next day. There were just not bothered.

    - staff were rude and unwelcoming. - on arrival we were told to 'sit!' without any explanation. After 15 minutes I approached the receptionist only to be told with an air of disdain that she was still find out whether the room was ready and that we had to wait. - the riot act was read out from a piece of paper informing us that we would be responsible for any damage, that noise would not be tolerated etc etc etc. - €10 charge for the air con and TV .... ridiculous. - breakfast was of a very poor quality with the coffee being some of the worst I'd ever tasted! It was positively offensive just like the staff. - breakfast starts at 7, we appeared at 6.50 to find everything laid out but NO! We had to sit there and wait for the clock to chime 7 o'clock exactly even though this was going to make us late to attend our dive centre, which had been explained. - the staff in the laundry room at the end of the corridor were not only loud but appeared to be chain smokers. The smoke quickly found its way under our bedroom door. - shower was reasonable other than having to constantly adjust the temp as it would change from hot and cold continuously. - At £50 a night for a twin room it was a seriously bad choice. Suffering the above may have been worth it if paying hostel prices. Unacceptable. I would say this would be on par with hospitality enjoyed by those in an open prison. Other than the above I would highly recommend this hotel!

Only one thing - I had to get a taxi there. It would have been better if I had arranged a shuttle with the hotel to get me there.

Room was spacious compared to others I have stayed in elsewhere - price reasonable. Breakfast menu offered a choice of different things to eat. Evening menu at the hotel offered a good choice. Tram 5 took me each day to Sofia - when the tram starts to do a loop that is the time to get off and walk either towards the statue of Sofia or alongside the Palace of Justice till you reach the front of the building and see the lions - I would recommend the Free Sofia Tour from there daily at 10 am 11 am or 6 pm as this takes you round the city and you can then see what you want to visit.

One thing which I didn't like is that when we arrived staff at reception desk told me that they already performed payment from the credit card, which number I gave as a guarantee for reservation over Booking.com. I wanted to pay with another card in the hotel, but it was not possible, they already charged it. It never happened to me anywhere else - in all other hotels I pay there on the spot how I want and never before they charged from card given as guarantee. Second thing is that last time (two years ago) when I was there parking was included in the price of the room, and this time I had to pay it 15 Lev. And my final remark about things which I didn't like is that water in the room is not drinkable what was strange to me. Also water from sink was not flowing well, door of the balcony were not in order.

Excellent location of the hotel is one of its greatest advantages, also availability of parking just in front of hotel. Hotel has an excellent restaurant in which hotel guests have discount of 10%. Restaurant has a nice garden and one can eat outside. Breakfast is very rich and good. Rooms (I am talking about those more expensive kid of rooms) are spacious and very comfortable. Those rooms have view on quiet park and on Vitosha mountain, very beautiful! Tram is just near to hotel and it brings you directly into city center, which is really not far away. There is a good wi-fi network in the hotel.

we booked a double bed but they gave us 2 single beds put together. its really uncomfortable if you're staying with your partner.

there is a supershop right next to it. the room looks nice and clean. we had a balcony attached but you wont get view of the vitosha mountain if your room isnt on 2/3rd floor.

The wifi was so bad in my first room that they had to move me to another room. In that room the wifi didn't work either, but they were able to get me a cable for my laptop so I could work and I was able to tether off that. The staff didn't seem to believe me however when I complained about the wifi and made me keep proving it to them. I also didn't seem to be able to change the temperature in the room and the air con seemed stuck on heating. I did try and use the Business Centre at one point to take a late night call, however it seemed to simply be an empty room with a single table and no chairs so I used the bar area instead.

The rooms were fairly well appointed, with comfortable single beds. There was a small fridge and a supermarket right next door. It is about a 30 minute walk to the city centre or take the trams. The food in the restaurant is excellent, especially the traditional food. The staff for the most part were helpful and friendly.

Some of the surrounding buildings had a Soviet era look about them. Not really a big minus.

I thought the breakfast was international with a Bulgarian touch. Lots of Fruit, great coffee eggs and bacon but with Baklava and Bulgarian Yoghurt. Easy to get to and in a safe area,in my opinion with spacious parks nearby. The building itself looked very solid. Earthquake proof?Very helpful staff.

WE TRIED DINNER WICH WAS GOOD BUT DUE TO A WEDDING CEREMONY WE HAD TO EAT AT THE LOBBY (SMALL AND LOW TABLES) AGAIN BECAUSE ALL THE OTHER AREAS WERE USED FOR SMOKING. APART FROM THESE SMALL DETAILS EVERYTHING WAS REALLY PERFECT.

We stayed at the Forum for 3 nights in November. Because we arrived late at night we took a taxi from the airport which cost 20 euros but I'm sure it would have been quite easy at other times to take a bus into city centre then a very frequent tram number 4 and 5 out to the hotel. The hotel was clean, reception staff very helpful, room temperature was warm, which was good as temperature outside was around 8 deg. Breakfast the first day was amazing, plenty of choice of cheeses ,cooked meats, full English (almost,) pastries, yoghurt, fresh fruit..... a bit hit and miss the next 2 mornings b,ut still substantial.Didn't see much of dining room staff. We took the tram into the centre, it stops at the corner of the road 2 mins from hotel, numbers 4&5. Cost I think was 1.15 lev....so cheap. We went on the free walking tour with Sofia free Tour take number 5 tram to Palace of Justice(terminus) and walk around to the front of the building tours start at 11 am. Very interesting history and buildings. That night we had the best pizza in a little place on the corner opposite the tram stop. It has FRESH in neon lights, but looks dark inside. Both my partner and myself were very impressed by the seafood pizza, so tasty and generous topping. Cost around 15 lev for 2 pizzas and 2 glasses of nice wine .The next day we did the Rila monastery tour, highly recommend it.The hotel is very good value for the money, not in the most glamorous area but it only takes 10 mins by tram into the centre. Big supermarket behind hotel, area seemed safe at night. We would definitely use it again.

    1. I've chosen this hotel because it had a sauna. We arrived at the hotel on friday evening and asked about the sauna, the answer was that it wasn' t working because of the holidays and it would only be possible yo use it at Monday. On monday, we arrived from our tour at 5 pm and asked to go to the sauna. The answer was that it would be impossible because it takes two hours to get hot and the girl who takes care of it leaves at 7 pm. There wasn't any notice anywhere about this. 2. The shower took forever to warm. 3. Although it was a non smoking hotel, the room smelled tobacco. 4. Although the site described there were three restaurants at the hotel, there was a party in two of them. The third was in a terrace where we were forced to have dinner side by side with smoking people. 5. There was no other restaurant nearby.

The luxury room had a very good size.
