The house is beautiful, peaceful and very comfortable! The staff is always available and helpful for anything you will need. Breakfast by the pool is a must!

It doesn't matter the level of room you pay for, you will receive an email saying breakfast is extra no matter what. Also extra service charges will be added on too. No fridges in the room, and we saw a lot of cockroaches and gecko's around the hotel during September 2017.

Interesting boutique hotel in Santa Teresa, good location for this area. Staff are pleasant, but only around during certain windows of the day.

I didn't realize quite how hilly Santa Teresa is when I booked. Our first Uber driver definitely took us there the most hilly way! (If you go a different route it's actually not so far up the hill.)

Beautiful and charming property built up into a hill - you enter through a tunnel then take a small elevator up! The staff spoke excellent English and provided great recommendations.

Location is great but I recommend using Uber to get here and from this place at night. But this would be a recommendation in nearly any part of the city.

I love this place! Nice clean rooms, friendly staff, swimming pool with an amazing view over the city, big garden with many corners where you can sit, relax and enjoy your coffee.

The hotel is not up to its ambitions of being a 5-star retreat combining French super chic and Brazilian coolness, as it seemed to me to be suffering a bit from underinvestment at the moment, with friendly but not over professional management and service a little uneven. Breakfast is not unforgettable but tasty and nicely served (ask before if it is included). Don't expect luxury in the rooms' facilities (no frigo bar, basic amenities) but just solid good taste.

The rooms are tastely appointed, beds are good, and the little pool overlooking the hotel from the back and commanding a beautiful city view is gorgeous. This hotel is a delightful little historic haven, at walking distance from two of the most charming Rio's neighborhoods, Santa Teresa and Lapa.Staying in this area is a choice implying little public transportation and lots of taxis, and requiring some more care about your safety than in ipanema, say. But if do choose to do it, Casa Amarelo is probably one of your best choices, especially if the price was affordable as in my case

Shower water only stayed hot for 1 minute at a time or we just couldnt figure out how to use it.

the place is super cozy and amazing location in the heart of Santa Teresa. The breakfast was amazing as well.

A few more plug sockets and room a bit noisy from outside nearby properties.

Excellent staff and location. Staff especially were always helpful, booking the best local restaurants, nothing was too much trouble. Such a gem hidden in cobbled streets of Santa Theresa overlooking rooftops of Rio.

Breakfast was well presented but limited. Would have preferred a small help yourself buffet with wider choices.

The position of the hotel, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff particularly, the singularity of the building and grounds, the pool and the comfort of the bedrooms.

not much, well, it is not on the beach (if you are only looking for beach), but it is 5min walk from Lapa where all the night life and live music goes on (safe to walk in evening as this is not far up the street)

the place (beautifully kept villa sort to place), great value in Rio, right above the music-filled Lapa area (great place to end the night) - easy bus or taxi ride to the beach staff speaks french and portugese and english :) (french run - great food, wine, etc.) lots of great little tables and chairs all over the place to sit, write the place has Style, and you will not live in a box (like in Copacabana anywhere) and pay a lot for that box - here you get Space

The inn is nice except for the "best" room, which had two small beds pushed together to make the queen bed, and was oddly painted in really dark colors. It also was not noise proof from the halls and porches surrounding the room. We didn't stay a second night because the neighborhood was really scary. Other reviews say the area is "bohemian", which really means that its dark and everyone lives behind huge walls with barbed wire at the top. Don't stay in this area if you plan to walk places at night.

The manager was really helpful, the breakfast was great, the building is really interesting and there are nice porches and a pool.
