The room/ flat and the toilet was old and in need of a thorough refurbishment. It's a nice pension stuck in the early 90's.

The building was beautiful, old and charming, breakfast was ok and I had a whole flat not just a room.

You have been everywhere, you have seen everything. But you have not been to Salvador? Lucky you :) . Still a place to visit on you bucketlist. And where do you stay? Pousada Barroco. Run by Hans, a German priest who has come here with Bach & Strauss under his arms. Our rooms were decorated with furnishment from the same siègle :). A place, hidden away, you may pass it without noticing it, But a pearl of its kind. We travel with our three daughters, having nice & spacey rooms, with ac and private showers. Hans provides private tours through Salvador, you may ask if he does not offer. In high season it may be a bit difficult, as he already seems a busy man in low season. And oh yeah, do not call him, but write an email, thus he avoids dumb phone conversations, he says, haha! Definitely worth a visit, on 8 minutes walk from Pelorinho.

Our room was huge! The aircon worked fine (I know there has been some reviews saying the opposite) but it was perfect! Breakfast was amazing. Its close to the pelorinho but more in a local neighbourhood so you get the best of both worlds...love hearing all the music coming from the locals houses and bars...proper Salvador!

The rooms weren't very good. Our shower leaked and our window didnt stay open, and in general the quality of the rooms were disappointing.

The hotel is walking distance from the famous Pelourinho area, which forces you to walk through other local areas you might not see if you werent staying there.

Breakfast could be until 10 (now 7.30-9.30) Cafes could stay in the breakfast room longer, until the guests finish the breakfast and morning reading of internet news (at 9.30 within 5 minutes everything disappears from the breakfast room to the kitchen back, even the fresh made 2 liters cafes thermos).

The owner very professional. Before arrival we had intense mail exchange, always answer within 1 hour. He cares personally for every guest and every detail in the house. He gives deep and complex info about the place, history of country, very insider details of the monuments in the city. He came personally to pick us up at the airport at 23 o clock. After arrival at midnight he organized with his staff a various small details in the room to improve our stay there. Incomes earned with this accommodation are used for various social and cultural projects for children of Salvador. Impressive and very rear nowadays.

The room was really big and comfy. The athmosphere of the old colonial house and the old furniture is very charming and the patio is very beautiful and the staff very nice and helpful. Nice Boutique Style Hotel.

wifi is not available in the rooms. rooms are pretty small and could do with some renovation, the a/c doesn't quite work that well and it's much needed in such a small room. the reception staff could speak better english and be a bit more friendly.

breakfast was great. the house itself is beautiful with a nice garden. walking distance to pelourinho but dangerous at night.

Our ground floor room was a bit dingy but other rooms in the place were lovely. Toilet kept draining so smelled a bit.

Breakfast was great and we liked the area, although some people may feel its a bit scary as it is in a residential area with a mixed demographic. We had no problem walking back at night and hanging out at the local bars on the street.

There were minor issues with the shower, but this is does not change the overall impression.

Excellent value for money, good rooms in an villa in a garden. Interesting neighbourhood. The owner drives a musical project for young people from Salvador.

Not the safest neighbourhood, even during the day. Make sure you walk on the main road and take a taxi at night. Very loud at night in between the dogs closeby, drunks fighting in the street and bins being picked up between 11pm and 1am. Light curtains so make sure you have an eye-mask if you don't want to be woken up by the daylight. I asked for a taxi pick up at 5am, which never came - luckily the security guard was kind and helped call a taxi straightaway. The AC doesn't work properly, even on maximum, it was still very hot in the room.

Clean. Close to city centre. Spacious room.

The picture of the hotel is a very old one and it does not look like this anymore. When I mentioned this to the owner and said the room was not was on the internet he gladly moved me. The internet is poor and only in the dining area.

The staff were very nice and it was clean, just not what I thought.
