Only one towel in bathroom. No shower gel or shampoo. It should be for this room price . Slow speed of WiFi . Old safe. Weak air conditioning. Littlebit Clogged washbasin.

Reception speaks English . Breakfast was really ok . There was a diving mask for free

I booked the transfer they offered from Rio to Ilha Grande, it was pretty terrible and took around 7 hours and I wasnt expecting that. The transfer to go back to Rio was fine and took around 4 hours.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast. The pousada has beautiful and green common areas. Would definitely stay there again!

The rooms do not see the water, but they are inside the Pousada.

The Pousada is very close to the arrival pier in Vila do Abraao, which is perfect for travelers! The breakfast room as a great view of the beach and at night they also have lights and table outside to drink cocktails and eat great crepes!

Smell coming out of the bathroom.

The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The breakfast was great. You could see the love and passion the staff put into the whole area of Pousada Tropicana (nice garden area, great variety of flowers and plants, nicely furnished rooms, cozy chill out area, ...).

The worst accomodation of my life.

Everything was wrong about this place. I booked 3 rooms for me and my family and this is the summary of this "Pousada". (I made 2 reservations so I will make 2 reviews with the same content.) 1. The rooms smell like toilet. I don't know what is the problem that they have with the bathrooms, but neither the toilets were cleaned before our arrival, neither their pipes work. 2. Everything in the room is humid. No chance to dry any clothes. 3. Breakfasts are dangerous - 3 of our group had a food poisoning during stay. Even if you don't get poisoned, the food is not fresh and tasteless. 4. You may think that location is good, but it's actually awful. Since it's just next to the boats there is a neverending crowd of people. 5. The rooms are extremely small. You can't open your luggage, or walk without hitting something. 6. "Air conditioning" as they call it is like a back side of a fridge that makes sound of a small motorcycle. Also - the one in my room broke. 7. This place needs a major renovation! It's never easy to write such a bad review about a business, but I wish I could know all this before I made the reservation and ruin my family time on Ilha Grande.

    Nothing.

We were supposed to stay three nights. At 11pm of the first night there was no electricity in the all island, and it stays the same for the next two days. This place has only a generator that powers one plug per room few times during the day, and does not power the A/C. I let you imagine how was like sleeping and staying in room without a/c, lights and internet (yes mobile phone were not working). The power cuts are the norm in the island apparently, and it was not an exception, so the place should be equipped with generator to allow their guests to stay comfortable in those situations or at least advertise of the situation before hand. We left the place and the island before the third night as it was a nightmare, with no refund or anything.

Room had dirty sheets ( with the staff saying it was just blood ) , sand on the bed right when we arrived, the bathroom did not smell good and the shower was broken ( only cold water ). When we complained about these things the person that worked there “ questioned “ about it, as we were lying. Same person who was not friendly since the moment we had arrived or seemed to want to help with anything. The shower was 220 but the person who fixed replaced with 110 material, so of course it stopped working and didn’t have a different room for us to stay. To finalize, we went to ask to replace our shower towels because it was very humid and they weren’t drying after 2 days and they just gave us beach towels, saying that’s the ones they could give.

Our group had two rooms and both were small and musty. Although there is AC in the rooms, the units don’t work very well. The comforter on one of the beds had a blood stain on it, and there were dirty spots on the walls that could easily have been removed If the housekeeping staff did a better job. The refrigerators are rusty and decrepit looking. The hot water in our shower did not work the first day, although they did fix it the second day. The hotel arranged transfer through a separate company, and we had to wait three hours at the ferry terminal on the mainland after being dropped off by our driver from Rio. When we contacted the hotel by WhatsApp, they never replied, and we just waited, wasting almost half of one of the days we had hoped to do some thing on the island. One staff member was very lovely but the rest could not speak much English so they were not helpful. We also went to the associated restaurant (a creperie) and each of the crepes came out at a different time and they totally forgot to bring one of the four crepes. Not worth it for almost $200 a night per room.

This property is very close to the ferry dock, so it is super convenient. The selection of food at the breakfast was excellent and the decor in the lobby, sitting areas and patio hammocks were very appealing. There was a very cute dog wandering the property.

It was one of the better pousadas downtown (and therefore more expensive, which is okay if the small investments and renovations are done) which was available at that time. It needs some small investments: clean sheets, and make sure that the cleaning has been done properly (after removing a dead cockroach cleaning the spot where I killed it), removing all the mold on the walls and on the duvet/bed, repairing the airco, getting a new fridge and upgrade the breakfast a bit. If I compare it to one the pousadas in Paraty (Aconchego, old town), it needs to be upgraded. It looks like the owner wants to sell the place (as it was on a ‘for sale’ sign) and doesn’t want to invest in small things like clean sheets.

The pousada looks great: all the ingredients are there. It is next to the boulevard and beach, it is in the heart of the town with all the restaurants (and there is no noise at the pousada). It just needs some small renovations, like clean sheets and removing all the mold. Personnel is great.

No hot water in our shower. Staff said that since it was the weekend, the plumber couldn't get the part needed to fix it. Staff did allow us to shower in another room. Bathroom sink also had a very slow drain. They did offer us two other rooms, but we wanted to be together in a room that accommodated three. We had the impression that our room was a bit neglected.

Great location, friendly staff and basic, but satisfying breakfast.

In booking it said we would have a room in second floor with the view over the backyard/garden (the junior suite). When we arrived we were told that it was not available, and got the room for 3 people which did not live up to the expectations. The view was right into a wall where everyone pass, the neighbor rooms was not hotel rooms, so had some noise from these (from staff and so). We wanted to air out the room, because the bathroom became very humid, and we could not dry any of our clothes and towels for the next day because we had no space outside to hang it. I am pregnant and did not want to leave the windows open for mosquitos, and definitely did not want to leave the windows open while we were not there. The windows inside the bathroom led right into some storage room where the laundry machine was on everyday, so we could not have this open because of the noise. It was a very humid room with smell of sewage from the bathroom (dont hang your clothes in there to dry, they will smell). We both slept very bad in this room. And we also cleaned the filter in the air conditioning which could not have been done in a very very long time (looked like years ago).

We liked the entrance to the reception with all the plants. What attracted us to book here was to have a view of a garden. What was also nice about this place is that it was right at the beach, and you have beachview at breakfast. The breakfast was simple but OK. You have to order the day before.

it was small, there were no windows that would allow me to see out. The one window that was there, that only let in air but not light, slammed down on my thumb and it bled profusely. I had to go to the hospital the next morning. The owner never acknowledged any sort of responsibility.

Very conveniently located. It was pouring rain when I arrived that evening, and I was so grateful for the location.

Loved everything about it. The small single bed was still somehow the most comfortable one I had on my whole month in South America! Breakfast was great, staff and advice were great, caiprinhas were excellent, location was perfect. Amazing place!
