Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

It was close to the beach, a very short walking distance, you get for breakfast ham and cheese with bread and butter, juice, coffee with milk or sugar, oranges, bananas cake or cornbread & a few times ceral, a great breakfast

The beds are not that comfortable, and there are just 2 showers/toilets for almost everyone in the hostel.
The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is amazing for the price.

#management Been pissed off by the managing staff more than once. Best one was a reminder that each guest is only allowed to one glass of juice from the breakfast buffet when I was just having my first (and only) glass. - It wasn't the fact that they reinforced their rules, but the way How they did. (However, in the end it might have been due to the language barrier as their english just wasn't really good....?) #beds horrible... had the 10-people dorm and whenever someone would move, his/her bed was screetching. Also no AC, only 3 vents that produced a big noise throughout the night. If you come here, better check if a single/couple room is within your budget. #toilets 2 bath rooms with 1 toilet / shower each - for the whole hostel. Sometimes really hard to get in there..
The outside area is a great place to stay. Mr Guitar, Mr Slackline and Mr Surfboard-Training-Thing really saved the day (and the rating)!! Also the close distance to the beach and local shops was favorable. The volunteers working in the hostel were absolutely lovely.

Dorm beds in my room are not very comfortable and could use replacing. Rooms could use air con for summer time
Good hostel near Recreio beach area. Good service. Breakfast was filling. Area was quiet

a) the wifi in the rooms didn´t work, and the Staff really didn´t care. You need to bring your own wifi, if you want to work from the rooms - which can be OK, but it surprised me that the Staff didn´t care at all when their clients needed wifi in their rooms. What a lazy attitude! b) Staff stored some of my food/drinks in their refrigerator (where Clients don´t have access. Staff only) - and then ate/drank half of my stuff (left the other half open and half-eaten/-drunk. WTF??!! BUY YOUR OWN FOOD - OR EAT IT ALL!! Don´t steal half of my food and leave me with the gross left-overs!!

Pillows, very poor quality. Breakfast had less than the basic, the bread has to be a little better. Was the water for the tea brownish? Yes... It was... It's not that I wanted something fancy, but if you offer breakfast is has to be a little better.
I liked only the location. The bathroom waqs not so clean and the pillows killed my back. They must invest in better pillows AT LEAST.

Safe area, good location, nice staff. Nice and friendly guests that also made a place much cozier. I would recommend for everyone who wants a good rest in a chill neighbourhood. Also prices are very acceptable in the markets and streets.

The place is truly delightful, boasting friendly and accommodating staff. Its close proximity to the beach adds to its charm, and the reliable internet connection makes it perfect for work. Plus, the rooms are kept impeccably clean. I had the pleasure of staying in a room with a balcony, offering a lovely view from the bed. Furthermore, the breakfast served was absolutely delicious. Towels were provided.

The location boasts a lovely ambiance, with staff who are both friendly and accommodating. Its proximity to the beach is a definite plus. Additionally, it offers a reliable internet connection, perfect for work, and maintains a high level of cleanliness.

I booked a 10 bed dorm and in the room were 14 beds, didn’t like that fact much. Luckily they switched me to the 6 bed dorm. But no window in that room. The private rooms are amazing. Dorms are let’s say okay. Also bathrooms were not so clean and you had to wait a lot to use it. Just two bathrooms.
Volunteers were super nice and except of one super friendly

Nothing to add here. Everything was perfect.
Breakfast was great with many options to choose from. Staff were super friendly and helpful with everything. They take great care of the place, it was ALWAYS clean and tidy, even the shared accomodation. Definetely exceeded my expectations!

I filtered an look for a hotel with parking and air conditioning, bit in the hotel the service for parking is only after 7 pm and the air conditioning starts from 7 pm to 9 am.
Nothing they are way overpriced for what they offer

The flat had a very hard bed the first night. After talking to the staff, it seems they forgot to add a mattress. Unfortunately no action taken to compensate. The bedroom could have a curtain that blocks external light because during the night, the light from the light pole in the street goes straight into the room. There is an empty kitchen on the entry of the flats that would help to have at least a fridge to keep things stored .
The location & the staff are great. The guest house is also very nice but we were put in a flat in a building beside the guest house.
