Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SpainThe stairs to go up to the third floor are really narrow and steep. It was difficult to drag the luggage up and down.
The location is excellent. Right in the middle of the old town. Room and bed were comfortable. Nice bathroom. Staff was helpful and friendly.

IrelandThe shower was in the middle of the bedroom behind a glass door would have preferred it in a room with the toilet.
Location location location - situated in the center of Quebec beside shops & a wide variety of restaurants. It was very cute the only problem was the steep steps up to the front door these would not be suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. Staff were friendly & helpful.

CanadaI first stayed at the Auberge probably 15 years ago, and this was my 6th or 7th visit; it has been my go-to in Quebec City, and I was last there in 2022. It appears that the ownership has changed; that is understandable, as people do retire. But the feel is different, and it lacks the attention to detail it once had. It felt ... shabby. Not quirky, not charming, not reflecting its long history: just shabby. We were in the smallest room on the 3rd floor. The room carpet was ripped and stained, with a badly sewn patch. The shower control had a chunk broken off on one side, and neither the side sprays nor the readout panel were working (it is one of the Euro-style ones that North Americans find either fun or intimidating.) The hallways felt grimy and in need of a good paint refresh. The 3rd floor hall and stairwell carpet was in particularly bad shape; the second floor looked like it had at least been cleaned in living memory. The steps at the bottom of the stairs up from the lobby were downright dirty. (Sure, it's winter. Boots. Salt. Muck. But badly worn and permanent old stains are a different matter.) It was my first time in all these years and visits that coming back to our room wasn't a highlight of our stay.
On the upside: the bed was comfortable, the room was cosy, and the linens were clean. The new restaurant, successor to Chez Jules and Pain Béni, smelled wonderful. The staff were pleasant, but apparently were working not just at the Auberge, but at several other inns (we wonder if a chain has been buying up some of the independents?). That limits the personal feel.

United States of AmericaThere was no elevator which could be a problem for someone staying on an upper floor if stairs are a problem. There were plenty of lights, but the bulbs themselves were low wattage. We had very little natural light, so the room was a bit dark. This would be a very simple problem to solve with brighter bulbs.
The location was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our king bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was really nice. Loved the ambiance of an older building and enjoyed our breakfasts in their charming restaurant.

United States of AmericaStaff were friendly but basically not there from about 18:00 for a few days - when we expected they’d be there til 20:00. So we only had one cup of coffee the entire stay because we could not get more pods from reception for following days much less ask about anything. Thankfully we did not have to seek out replacement tissue during our stay. Also, no lounge. We are used to tiny hotels like this and tiny receptions such as in Paris etc and prefer to travel this way but usually there are at least a couple comfy chairs to wait in. In this instance there was only a metal chair or short bench for all guests (one can use either but two cannot each use one and there is likely someone in that spot already. And that was in a cramped corner in the walkway/stairway, so even if room for one it was not particularly useful if any guest was walking by to get to their room. You’ll have to resort to purchasing food or beverage at the neighboring restaurant as you wait.
Location; the room overall. We will probably still be back but I will seek backup supplies from front desk next time when checking in as one cannot rely on finding staff - save for in the morning when heading out (and then they are busy and there is nowhere to reasonably comfortably sit or wait out of the way).

CanadaIt's an historical building, so it comes with the issues that are usual in these places, like no elevators, but the staff is always keen to help.
Location is amazing. If you going to visit Quebec for tourism the hotel is right in the middle of the action, walking distance to Old Port, the Chateau Frontenac, La Citadelle and other tourism areas. We had an issue with the heating in the first night that was quickly fixed.

AustraliaWe were on third floor, no lift and narrow steep stairs. Despite advertising free wifi the signal strength was very weak and almost impossible to use due to constant drop outs or inability to get signal. The restaurant attached was very disappointing.
Great location, incredibly helpful and pleasant staff. The room was nice and quirky. It was clean and comfortable. I would stay again but not if only room was on third floor.

United States of AmericaIt doesn’t have many of the amenities that we’re used to - no lobby area, no restaurant - and the stairs are seriously steep. If accessibility is an issue, this won’t be a good place for you.
The location can’t be beat - steps from the funicular, the Frontenac, restaurants and shopping. The room was lovely - interior brick walls, surprisingly good size bathroom, comfortable bed. Everyone we worked with at the front desk was helpful, especially Maude.
