Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWould've liked more "general" showers/toilets available, as occasionally the one in the room would remain occupied for a long time.
Great location in Montréal! Ideally suited for exploring the entire city & area. Included breakfast was a welcome addition.

AustraliaSome guests were really noisy and didn't pay attention to other people. It wasn't a hotel's fault.
I complained about other guests because they talked in my room even after 1 am. The staff requested to change my room for free. I really appreciate it. Many kinds of breakfast. It's close to some supermarkets.

AustraliaThe location didn't feel overly safe, and the bathroom felt quite cramped, without any natural light.
This hostel suited my needs which was essentially being able to just check in and relax after travelling, and get a good night's sleep. The breakfast was quite good - lots of variety offered (juice, tea/coffee, bagels, toast, muffins, fruit).

United StatesIs seems like the prices are creeping up although it may be a seasonal bump up (August). There are amenities that are missing such as disposable glasses for brushing your teeth, facial tissues that are supplied in most in comparable stays especially at the newer prices. This room (first floor) is noisier than the second floor (clunking noises early and late from the guest kitchen area).
The staff is always helpful, freindly and professional. Great location.

CanadaShared bathroom needing updating and deep cleaning. Overall a good stay, facilities could use some updating and touch ups. Road was under construction, so parking was unavailable on the street. There was an underground parking garage very close by. Leaving car parked for 1.5 days cost $60.
Excellent location with very friendly staff. Nice common area with tables, outlets, couches and a bar. Very walkable to main parts of old Montreal.

AustraliaMaybe in the common area, there is no TV area; it's just a dining table and a lounge area, so when you stay in the lounge, there is nothing to do if you are alone.
I liked the room, the bed is comfy and easy to sleep in. Breakfast is simple but filling. The room is clean and enough towels to use.

ItalyThe position was good and the room ok. But some things are not ok like the AC is very loud (when I read the previous reviews I could not imagine something like this - it can woke you up in the night) and if you do not use the AC it is too hot to sleep. The bathroom could be cleaner there were hair in the sink. Overall for the price it is ok for a short stay.

CanadaThere are some rough people in the area. I think this used to be some kind of a sex hotel as we had a huge mirror on the ceiling.
Hard to beat for the price point and location. We were worried when we saw that there were earplugs available at the front desk and the bar was open until 3 am on a Saturday night but we got a good sleep. The breakfast was better than we expected and the room was clean. A short walk to the Metro and we found neighbourhood parking with little difficulty.

CanadaIn my room the AC was working but making a lot of noise, as if it was broken it turned on and off so many times. Unfortunately, we had a bad experience with another non-guest at the reception while doing an early checkout (those are the photos) as they were agressive I try to took them as fast as we left.
The bathroom this time was cleaner, the people we shared this time were also nicer and more respectful at the sleeping time. The receptionist was the sweetest and nice person.

Finland- 8-person dorms have small lockers. 6-person dorms have much bigger lockers.
+ Has all amenities needed: a locker, lamp beside your bed, socket beside your bed, privacy curtains (on all sides of the bed!). + Free towels, hair dryers + Really good free breakfast for a hostel (toast, bagels, waffles, maple syrup, cream cheese, butter, jam, peanut butter, fruit, milk and cereal, muffins, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, orange juice) + Incredibly helpful staff + Really nice location. Really central, walkable to many places, close to a main metro station with good connections, right next to the bus stop for the airport bus. Felt safe.

United StatesThe main downside that really affected our sleep was the noise from the dorm room doors next to ours. The doors slammed loudly any time someone went in or out, and unfortunately, this happened throughout the night and early morning. Earplugs would not be enough to drown out the noise. This really impacts our willingness to return to the Samesun Hostel in the future.
The hostel was in a perfect location, close enough to walk to all the major sights, which made exploring the city super convenient. We stayed in a private twin room, which was very clean and included a private bathroom (a plus for us) and excellent air conditioning that kept the room cool during a hot and humid day. The reception staff were friendly and helpful in assisting us with finding nearby parking. The parking garage (not affiliated with the hostel) was within walking distance and felt very secure, with gated vehicle entry and foot access only by ticket. Breakfast was a nice, simple, and satisfying. Eggo waffles, toast, bagels, muffins, cereal, coffee, and orange juice.

LuxembourgThe room was in the basement, which I would have liked to know in advance! However, it had a good window and the air was always relatively fresh. The breakfast was okayish -besides Philadelphia spread, everything else was sweet - cereal, bagel bread, toast bread, muffins and pancakes, along with spreads of nutella, marmelade, maple syrop and others. It also offered apples and oranges. I would have loved to have some savoury options like tomatoes/ cucumber/ cheese/ eggs/ etc. The place is also very close to a big homeless and drug area, which can be uncomfortable sometimes especially at night. I was trying to avoid going back home from that street and was making a detour from the street across.
Overall it was alright staying at the hostel. I had booked a 6-bed dormitory room, with a bathroom and a fridge in the room. The bathroom was always kept very clean. The room and the rest areas not that much, they could definitely use a wipe. The kitchen is well equipped for own use, and was kept in a good condition. They have always free coffee, tea, water, and hot chocolate. Besides my negatives listed below, I would probably still stay here again!
