Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Italyno breakfast and restaurant was closed.
Hotel in the historic center of Powell River, next to the abandoned papermill, it used to be a very posh place but has visibly aged. Rooms are ok and staff was nice, so it was a good option for a one night stay.

CanadaThe room was bare minimum. Bed was just a double. However it had a good air contioning unit that cooled the room.
The lobby, the feeling of a time long gone. Living in a museum.

CanadaNothing really, fancy soaps in the bathroom maybe. It had everything I wanted and more, for the price of a motel across town. Nothing I didn’t like.
Beautiful old hotel. Value for money is incredible. Yes, it’s a 2 star, you’ll see that. But it’s very clean, quirky 114yr old hotel and the operators are so charming. Will 100% stay again!

CanadaWe couldn't get hot water in the bathroom although we let it run for a long while. The hotel and our room were both a little run down, but for one night it was fine.
Great location. The beds were quite comfortable.

CanadaIt’s not that I don’t like it. But with the age of hotel and being a historic property, the room we had was small. But in fairness, we booked last minute and got one of the last rooms, which was one of the smaller rooms.
It was full of history. If you like history, you’ll like it. It was like going to a museum. It put a smile on my face. We had a good sleep and it was quiet, and I had a nice hot shower.

CanadaBecause of it's age, the hotel has quirks that you just need to live with - The building isn't level so nothing is flat. The plumbing is old and the lighting isn't that great...but it is pretty neat if you are into old stuff.
Very cool building. Built in 1911, The Rodmay is Powell Rivers very first commercial building. Lots of character and quirkiness. The owner, Charlie, is very helpful and is working hard to bring the hotel up to date. Much of them interior of the building is still original.

CanadaThe bathrooms are pre World War One also. Shower takes a while to warm up and the sink and bathtub drains are smelly.
Charlie the manager was amazing! Took very good care of us and was a delight to talk too. Also, the old timey feeling that the hotel has. A real step back in time to pre First World War days.

CanadaNeeds help. Would be great if the restaurant was brought back and the whole place was rejuvenated. Not an easy task.
Great to stay in this wonderful old hotel. It’s very tiered and needs lots of work, so nothing fancy here, but for us a treat to see it and imagine how it once was and what it could be again.
