Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaI have stayed here a number of times and it is always a pleasure. It is such an interesting Inn. The rooms are lovely and the staff are very nice and helpful. It is a wonderful location. I will continue to stay here on my travels to Cobourg.

CanadaIt was a lot of fun. We chose this place for the haunted aspect. Didn't see anything but you never know right? The beds are a little stiff and the internet was sketchy but there was a storm the night before. Some nice trails around.

CanadaThe room temp was too warm in the transition from winter to spring, and the Cat and Fiddke forgot to discount our bill.
I loved the old vibe of the place abd recommend that the museum information be accessible to hotel guests, or at least some of it, to read more about the history of where we are staying. The reception was very friendly and I was impressed with what Cobourg has done with its waterfront.

CanadaAccessibility to the facility upon arrival was not ideal. All doors were locked and we did not immediately see the sign on the front door to call a number upon arrival. Before seeing the phone number on the front door, we tried the King George main phone number on their website and got an answering machine. It would have been helpful to have access to the check in phone number via email confirmations, ahead of time. The room was a little too warm. There were no face cloths in washroom. There was a lack of counter space in the washroom and a tub option would have been nice.
We liked the location and character of the room. We were given an option of room choices upon arrival.

CanadaNothing to dislike
Everything, I've stayed her before, so it's my go-to in Cobourg. The location is excellent to walk up town and visit shops or have a drink and our meal at the many pubs/ bars and restaurants.

CanadaI know there is a general kitchen for guests. However, I do wish each room had a small fridge and coffee maker.
I have stayed here a few times. I enjoy the various types of rooms which are very nice. The staff are lovely and it is a great location - moments from the lake. I highly suggest this Inn.

CanadaUnfortunately, I booked this hotel because I was in town for a skating competition in Baltimore, ON and every other hotel was unavailable. My room had no shower (just a bathtub), no microwave, a TV remote that didn't work, and a broken door lock. You also needed to call someone to check in and you have to use a key to open the front door of the hotel. Again, these things may have been "charming" if I had been staying there under different circumstances.
If I had booked this hotel because I was visiting the Coburg area with my wife and we were looking for a hotel stay in an unique and charming location, then I think my impression of this hotel would have been better. The rooms are definitely unique, and the location is fantastic, as you are merely a few steps from restaurants, parks, waterfront, etc.

CanadaI would have appreciated having access to breakfast-type food in the morning at the hotel (something like fresh coffee, muffins, croissants and yogurt). Cobourg being a relatively small town, none of the nearby restaurants (i.e., within walking distance) were open at 7am, as I wanted to eat before the planned departure of my train at 8am.
My room was clean, comfortable and cosy, and the hotel is centrally located, within walking distance of the train station (about a 15-minute walk). The manager who greeted me upon my arrival was very friendly and eager to help.

United KingdomThe problem always is ‘expectation and reality’ … we had expected a bustling, fun bar with rooms and got rather a mausoleum! Perhaps at high season it is all we had expected, sadly not the case for our visit! Only one night though and we slept well on a comfortable, clean bed!
Obviously this has been a much loved hotel, but now feels rather dated. Perhaps it’s their season end , but It looked completely dark and locked up on our arrival -we had to knock and ring the bell for several minutes before a very nice lady arrived to show us to our room. The room was large, warm, very clean but decor somewhat dated. No bar or dining facilities… not what we had expected as it looked liked a bar with rooms in Booking.com pictures! We were clearly the only guests in the place which made it slightly weird! (My husband kept calling it ‘Bates Motel!) The ‘receptionist’ recommended a great nearby Italian restaurant for dinner, and there was no breakfast option. Rather a strange experience all round!

CanadaHeated by a boiler. The room was very hot for sleeping and there was no way to control the heat. Also it took a very long time for hot water to get to the bathroom taps. I found it quite wasteful to have to run the water for so long.
My room was very nice, with updated Victorian-style decor with a 3 piece ensuite.

CanadaThere were great restaurants within walking distance, and there is a missed opportunity to connect the hotel with other great local locations and attractions. This was the weekend leading into Halloween - perhaps a local walking ghost tour would be a fun thing to connect with the hotel. I do wish the bathroom had better privacy - our room had a half curtain.
It was a really fun place to stay! My daughter loved the jail bunk bed, and the jail exhibit in the basement. The kids were down there for over an hour! The room was comfortable.
