Fantastic Staff, very accommodating, polite, friendly. Thank you for treating us so nicely!!! Amazing location! The hotel is a gem, with an old charm look and feel that are hard to find in modern Vancouver. We will be back!

Our only disappointment is that our stay wasn't longer - we'll certainly be back if we can!

Fabulous place to stay in a fantastic location on English Bay just a short walk from the wonderful Stanley Park and a somewhat longer stroll from the water taxi over to Granville Island and beyond. The room we had was very spacious with the luxury of a separate sleeping area for our son. It could, perhaps, be described as a little dated but I prefer to think of it as simply being in keeping with such a beautiful and historic building. The restaurant has an excellent menu - we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner during our stay and can recommend both. One tip would be to book even if you're a guest of the hotel as it is very popular and rightly so. The staff were lovely and the service provided was exemplary with nothing being too much trouble.

The room/bathroom was pretty small and the walls were very thin. Could hear neighbors talking through much of our stay.

The location was perfect and they had their own parking garage. It was overall a cool vibe of an older historic hotel and the location was just where we wanted to be.

    Room numbering system is confusing.

Fabulous location across from English Bay. A cosy, comfortable hotel. The beds and pillows were great and the room was spotless. Loved that there were two comfy armchairs around a good sized table from which we could relax, read, or see a partial view of English Bay. We stayed at the Sylvia Hotel for 2 nights, after flying in very early from New Zealand. We had a reservation but didn’t expect to be able to get into a room before noon, however staff went out of their way to find one and get it cleaned and ready so that we could get some sleep in the morning - we greatly appreciated their thoughtfulness! The hotel is very convenient for the many restaurants and coffee shops on Denman and Davie Streets, and close to the bus stops. Nice bar and restaurants in the hotel with great views of the bay.

Lack of staff in on site restaurant for both morning and evening. Make a reservation if you want to eat breakfast on a Sunday.

Cute, well maintained historical hotel in a great location next to English Bay. Walking trails are easily accessible along the bay and into Stanley Park. Lots of great restaurant choices in the neighborhood. On site restaurant has great food as well. Quiet hotel and quiet neighborhood.

It's an old old iconic hotel so what's not to like. The owners and management are working on necessary upgrades (elevators) so they are on top of it. So people, rejoice in this "find".!!

The lounge and dining room views are like none other in Vancouver, as far as I know. Charming, intimate, "away from the big city overwhelming vibe".

Could definitely use an upgrade of the heating system. We have the heater turned up on maximum and the room was still cold 12 hours later.

Excellent location and the building has a historic feel. Staff was very friendly. And breakfast was good.

    As above

When I booked my flight to Vancouver through Booking.com, I received a $60 voucher to use on my hotel. I could not use this voucher online, and no one replied to my inquiry from Booking.com. Then the voucher expired. I thought I would be paying $129 for my room, not $189. Even though my stay was great, it still left a bad taste in my mouth. I felt a bit ripped off. I sure hope Booking.com reads this and provides me with a $60 refund!!

A very small detail, but worth a mention is that the gorgeous view of English Bay would be more easily viewed if the screens were taken off the windows.

We would have preferred not being by the elevators. Fortunately one was being updated and so, not being used. You could hear people talking while they were waiting for the elevator that was working. Not a deal breaker but not a great way to start your morning.

Great location at English Bay in Vancouver's west end. Easy walk to many great restaurants. Public transit very easy from airport with only one transfer from the skytrain to a bus and a cost of around $8. The room was big and comfortable. We were able to sleep with the windows open and not be bothered by traffic noise. The fruit tray we got from breakfast room service was outstanding in freshness and value. Happy hour in the bar for sunset was well priced and a beautiful view.
