Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

As other guests left early in the morning, it wasn’t the quietest.
They gave a little welcome pack for our dog with a blanket and some treats. So thoughtful.

Period piece 1970’s ? Motel carefully redecorated. Clean comfortable bed nice linen. (Mine had a canary yellow bathroom suite - a collectors item). Great restaurant n site.

The restaurant closed early hard when you doing long drives and get in late want a nice hot meal and a drink. But it was amazing anyways.
Everything, it was actually cute and comfortable. When we are making a travel to Calgary this will be our stop along the travels…

The check in process was odd - we checked in the convenient store but the host was very pleasant and even accommodated us with our dog.
Everything was walking distance. The restaurant was lovely and the food was amazing. Our rooms were clean and was great. We also liked it here as it wasn't in Thunder Bay. TBay's hotels are so incredibly pricey it was refreshing to find The Voy!

Bit odd to go to the convenience store to check in. (Think going into 7/11 to get the keys to your room). The rooms are loud. This isn’t a fancy motel. Just a regular, clean, but needs to be updated, motel. You can hear everything between the rooms - showers, talking, and 👀.
Right off the road. Little restaurant and snack store. Good parking.

The bathroom sink is kind of awkward and there’s no place to really put anything. I happen to hate pedestal sinks. And there’s so much sand in the parking lot when I walked my dog this morning in the wet grass and she tracked all kinds of sand back into the room, so it would be nice if you could do something about that.
Bed was super comfortable. Shower was hot and lots of water. Check in staff were polite and friendly. Being able to park right in front of the door is always a positive. The room was very clean, although a table on the other side of the bed would be helpful. There’s only one night table.

The emails with how to find the Voy along with all the rules and fines was extremely long and unnecessary. I did not read them in their entirety.
Our king room was very comfortable and the bathroom with walk-in shower looked newly renovated, and was very clean.

A couple of rounds of a neighbouring guest’s dog barking outside interrupted our sleep but a) not the motel’s issue b) we were early to bed to hit the road early too.
Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The restaurant next door was lovely with a nice varied menu. Check-in and out at The Store was quick and easy. Coffee at The Store in the morning was perked and ready for 06:00.

Not a lot of electrical plugs available for all the devices we have these days. A power bar would’ve been helpful. Also, and this is not really the hotel‘s fault, but the parking situation was kind of weird, and because we were in the corner of an L-shaped building we found ourselves boxed in by other cars when we went to leave early in the morning. Luckily for us those other rooms were up as well, so they were able to move their vehicles. But maybe something can be done about how the parking is arranged in that corner of the hotel.
Room was very spacious. Bathroom was nicely laid out and the shower was good and hot. Bed was very comfortable. Communication from the hotel was excellent.
