Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The hot water was turned off for our first day, for maintenance. When the water came back on, it was hot but the shower was totally unusable - we had to use the tub.
The location is excellent, the front desk was very friendly, and the bed was comfortable. The unit is more like an apartment with separate living and bedroom, with a full kitchen though with minimal cooking utensils. It did at least have a microwave.

Cable TV was not working unless we wiggled the wire.

Couldn’t locate a grocery store near by. The internet was a bit slow.
We came to Vancouver for a concert. The location of Tropicana is unrivalled — right in the heart of the west end. We could see English Bay and Coal Harbour from our balcony. There was a well stocked kitchenette, but Timmies and Subway are both a stones throw away. Rogers centre was a 15 minute walk. Dozens of restaurants around.

Water pressure and internet could be better. No USB
Good location, free parking, friendly staff and no problem to check in at midnight . Its old and shabby, but exactly what is visible on the website and actually clean and really ok considering the price. Bed is comfortable,

We were happy with it at the price
The property was perfect for an overnight stay in CBD before our cruise. An easy walk downhill Broughton St to waterfront and along to Canada Place. Huge rooms. Clean, safe and comfortable. Thank you

Admittedly, the hotel is a bit dated and worn. If one expects luxury and five star accommodations, such person will be disappointed.

The décor could seriously do with updating.
Location is very good. It is walking distance to the beaches and shops etc. The room was very spacious with separate sitting area, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. It was clean. Staff were very helpful.

Old, worn out building and room. The bathtub didn't drain. The window panes were very precarious. The room was very hot, too much
Great value for money, central position with free parking and within walking distance from Stanley park, Canada place and Gastown. Very spacious apartment with comfortable sofa and bed. We enjoyed the view from the 9th floor do much that we decided to extend our stay there before leaving for Vancouver Island, rather than moving closer to the ferry terminal

We had four units. All of them showed wear but were clean. No air conditioning - but we knew this in advance.
Location was excellent. Most of the staff were polite and helpful. We had a communication issue with one person concerning mode of payment but that was resolved before checkout.

It was what we expected after reading reviews. This place is very worn. Balcony was only about two feet wide.
Location and on-site above ground free parking. Public transit is on Robson St. Busses ran every 15 minutes. Easy access to the sky train. Good restaurants in the area and a store on the same block for bread, milk etc. Sliding door and bedroom window opened for fresh air.
