How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewWow, not sure I can describe this amazing property properly as I'm not a writer and I never leave reviews but Eagles Nest deserves my attempt. We were a family traveling with our adult kids & their partners and Eagles Nest was absolutely perfect. We all had our own rooms and a great area to spend time together in the living room or in our case the AMAZING patio! The time we spent sitting on the patio enjoying our coffee or eating dinner is something all 6 of said was in the top 3 of our 10 days in Switzerland. The view cannot be described, it's a feeling that you need to experience yourself! Also, the kitchen had absolutely anything you could need or want to cook a great meal! After staying at another location in Lucerne we realized how spoiled we were at Eagles Nest with a fully stocked kitchen. The owner was fantastic coming to meet us to bring us fans since the temps were higher than normal during our stay. She was available and so helpful through text should we need anything. Our stay at Eagles Nest will forever live on in our memories!
This isn't a con, just be aware the property is a 10-15 minute walk from the center of town and the hill is steep. The owner made us aware that there is a bus stop right next to property that goes to and from town all day long, we utilized the bus occasionally when we were just too tired to walk-ha!

Verified reviewLocation was perfect and the view was amazing. Bus stop is Grindewald Stein but be careful, the bus stop going there usually at 7pm or before which means you have to walk up the hill for a half hour. The home was clean, comfortable, spacious and added to our enjoyment of Switzerland. We would stay there again if we come back. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Verified reviewThe views are stunning and the place feels light and spacious. The washer and dryer were a HUGE bonus for our family of 5. With three teenagers, the loft wasn’t really usable space, but it wasn’t necessary for us. Large dining table and the kitchen had most things we needed. It was close to town, only a short drive, and having a parking space at the home was key. WE would stay again and highly recommend!
Could have used some oven mitts and extra kitchen towels, and a shade to cover the skylight in the twin bedroom would have been ideal as it was bright early. These were minor inconveniences and merely suggesting addressing them for future guests. Our check in instructions seemed to be for a different unit which caused confusion, but after friendly and prompt help from the host, we figured it out. There are three flights of stairs to access the home, but we wanted those views and didn’t have heavy baggage, so it was fine. Just want to note for others.

Verified reviewThe property was extremely nice and clean. The view from the outside balcony is amazing. There are a lot of decorative touches that also make the inside feel special. I like that it was away from the center of town, but still convenient to a few walking paths and the bus line.
Nothing.

Verified reviewThe apartment is spacious, close to the bus station which can be take you to both First and Bodmi. Very well stocked kitchen for cooking. Alternatively there are a few nice options for restaurants in the city center, one short walk away (15-20’ away). We loved our stay here.
Recycling was a bit complicated, we ended up taking our recycling back home with us :) easier alternatives for sorting and recycling could be provided at the property.
Dear Mara, Thank you so much for your lovely review, it was lovely to host you. I'm sorry about the recycling issues. Recycling is different in each country and can be quite confusing. If you had asked us, we quite happily would have helped you, I'm so sorry. We have quite clear instructions but maybe you missed them. I'm so sorry you took your recycling home, not quite the favorite holiday souvenir! 😊

Verified reviewI’ve been to Grindewald five times and this was my favorite place to stay! The views from the deck are just breathtaking… from sunrise to sunset we enjoyed the beauty of the mountains, the village, the sound of the Swiss cowbells, the cable cars in the distance and the stunning fall colors. We loved the quick walk down the hill into the village and in the evening through the winding Swiss streets. My five year old and seventy year old parents were able to walk to and from the village with ease but I should note this would be a challenge for someone who is not able bodied (three flights go stairs to the apt as well). The lovely apartment was easy to find, the host was easy to communicate with via text and checked in on us even though arrived very late in the evening. The kitchen was probably one of the most well stocked I’ve seen and provided a tea kettle and nespresso machine (with pods) amongst other things. The beds were comfy, and they even have a cute little playroom in on r of the rooms that my five year old loved. It a really hard to capture in photos how great this place was but we would certainly book again!

A little pricey, but Switzerland is a very expensive place to travel in general.

Verified reviewThe host was very helpful with sharing information, the place was located in a location that made it a little challenging to get to without a car but the peace and unobstructed view was very much worth it. We particularly enjoyed the little attic loft.
My only complaint is perhaps the insects that tend to fly in and are difficult to chase out, so perhaps the place could've done with some kind of insect repellant especially in the summer.

Verified reviewI liked everything—the hospitality, the help and support were prompt and exactly what I needed. I appreciated every aspect of the building, especially the owner, who was always available and extremely helpful. He was ready to assist with any questions and was very nice and respectful. Thanks a lot, and I will come again :)
The only thing that wasn't practical for me was the water heater. If two people showered, the next person would have to wait until the next day or a long period of time to shower again other wise the water will be too cold :(, and we had to turn on the heater daily. I wish it was automatic.
Dear guest, I'm glad you enjoyed the property. The hot water tank is set up for 6 persons and provides daily warm water. If you have exceptionally long showers, then the hot water will run out, however it is only a push of a button to reset the boiler.
