How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Verified reviewThe room was spacious, clean and fairly new.
There was no in-person staff to support. Everything was done through e-concierge (a screen) for both check-in and check-out. Before arrival, an online check-in link was sent to my email, but the link did not work for checking in, so instead we arrived at the hotel entrance for the e-concierge screen check-in. When we arrived, there were already two other parties in front of us waiting to check-in, but the e-concierge screen was out of service (showing error messages), with no response as the screen was frozen, all of us were stuck outside of the door and tried to call the contact number found on booking.com, as well as messaging the property, however the first few calls were hung up itself! All of us waited for about 20 mins, finally a call went through and a staff helped us all checked in through a phone. At the entrance, there was no contact number showing at the entrance door, no call button or any information given to allow guests inquiring for assistance. We were all clueless and helpless, it was not a good experience. After checking in for few hours, I received the hotel`s message at 10:22pm (we arrived at around 6:40pm) telling me my room number and the instructions of how to access the hotel while we were already in our room. In addition, the room was assigned incorrectly to us. I booked a double room but instead, we got two single beds. We did not even bother to ask for any changes with the room as we already felt helpless and it was late in the evening when they responded to my message.

Verified reviewThe room was big, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was free and came with coffee, tea, croissants, and fruit. The choices weren’t many, but it was more than enough and a nice touch. The location is great too — right by the Rhine River, with Vaduz just across, so getting to Liechtenstein was really easy.
We arrived late, and the self check-in machine kept showing “Room is not ready.” After several attempts, we had no choice but to make an international call, and only after the customer service staff reset the system could we complete the check-in. It seems advisable to arrive earlier if staying at this hotel.

My room was over a kebab place, the noise was very disturbing. The room didn't have aircon and I couldn't opent the windows due to the noice coming from the people in the kebab. Also, had to call the hotel couple of times (no reception) cause check-in wasn't intuitive and I didn't understand where the parking was (and the hotel woman on the phone couldn't explain me either!

DO NOT BOOK 2 ROOMS VIA BOOKING.COM, THE SINGLE REFERENCE GIVEN DOES NOT WORK ON THE SELF CHECK-IN MACHINE. THERE ARE NO STAFF BASED AT THE MOTEL, NUMEROUS TRAVELERS HAD ISSUES CHECKING IN, IT TOOK US OVER 2HRS TO GET IN AND COST ME £20 IN PHONE CALLS AND TOPPING UP MY DATA!!

Verified reviewGreat location and the parking in the basement is free (you need to take a ticket and there's a machine in the hotel for validating it). There's a supermarket right across the street and lots of cafes and restaurants including McDonald's in the immediate neighborhood. The train/bus station is also within walkable distance. The customer service over phone was also quite helpful. There's a nice room with a coffee machine and croissants and fruits were kept there in every morning. While Coffee, croissants and fruits are free, there is a fridge named 'honesty bar' with chilled drinks which you have to pay for by leaving money (CHF) in a box. This is the one thing that can be improved by making it a vending machine which also accepts cards.
I had some initial trouble with checking in. I arrived at 1 am and the machine outside said my room is not ready yet because it is being cleaned. I knew nobody was cleaning the room at 1 am, so I called support and they sorted it out. After this, I couldn't get my room door to open. After changing my room twice and still not able to open the door to the room, they changed my room to a different floor and that solved the problem. All of this took nearly 45 minutes. Once this was sorted out, the rest of my stay was smooth. Just on a side note - I had a twin room, and the beds felt a bit too narrow. If you are by yourself, a double room might be a better idea.
