Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe wifi didn't really work in our room, but I had an esim with unlimited data which was fine. It is best not to assume the wifi will work for you and ensure you have an esim that will cover you, if wifi is important to you. It does say on booking.com that breakfast is included, it isn't, so that is something you will need to pay extra for if you'd like it. I didn't mind this as much, but the hotel is near the bottom of a steep slope path, so for those with mobility issues it may not be the best.
What a lovely and relaxing place to stay! The owner is incredibly kind and made us feel very welcome, we actually checked in at the wrong time and a day later than we were meant to as we missed the last bus to the hotel, but the owner was incredibly understanding and came and checked us in even though she wasn't on shift. We stayed in a chalet and it was great for sleeping in, we are both tall (I am 5"10 and my boyfriend is 6"3) and we both found it comfortable enough, and for the price it was great. We took the bus everywhere with the Swiss Rail Pass, and there is a bus stop literally 2 minutes walk away from the entrance of the hotel, and it can get you to the nearest train station so you can get into Luzern, Zurich etc.

SwitzerlandOur friends had a four people room, this was the only room smelling a bit like moisture. Also, get ready to walk up and down the hill from the parking lot! Better not to have a very heavy luggage!
The location is absolutely fantastic! We were sitting outside by the lake until midnight! We stayed at the chalet, such a nice, romantic room. Just be aware that it is a wooden chalet, so you hear every step. The bathroom was in a lower floor, so, a longer walk at night. The kids stayed in a very big and modern 8-bed room and had a blast! We had a very nice dinner and breakfast at the hotel. We are already planning to make this a yearly get-together spot!!

NetherlandsWe were in a tight room with a sloping ceiling and the two beds were lined up in a row instead of next to each other. Make it a children's room with a bunk bed or something like that instead of a couples room.
Breakfast was okay. The surroundings are beautiful and the views are astonishing. The walk up to the street was steep but are hosts gave us a lift.

NetherlandsThere was a shared fridge to store your food, but we didn't see any kitchen facility that is open for the guests. If we were staying longer I think that would be necessary. I think beds could have been more comfortable.
I loved the location. It is on the lake side, so you can enjoy the lake non stop. We have a lake view from our room. I liked the showers and toilets, they were clean and accessible. There is a room where you can play games in the evening with family or have breakfast in the morning.

BelgiumWhat I didn’t consider was that hostels do not have not Air conditioning and no mosquito nets on the windows. We came in after a hot day. so the room was very hot, even with open windows and I had a terrible night sleep.
Amazing location, super clean.

GermanyWe booked a comfort room but somehow it was not found. The staff helped to find another room quickly, but the bunk beds with only one fan was to hot to sleep. The rooms need to be equipped with fans for both levels of bunk beds, or an air conditioner for hot humid summer days.
Location is perfect with kind and engaging staff members. Lots of sports and private beach for enjoying a good family time. Open kitchen helps also to cook and enjoy a nice breakfast/dinner. Good facility and clean space is a plus too.

Dominican RepublicRooms are very noisy, you can understand what the guests in the rooms next to you are saying. The pillows are very uncomfortable, and the shared toilets and showers aren't very clean. Also, it is quite expensive.

United KingdomMeals are expensive but I think that is normal for Switzerland!
The location is amazing right on the lake with access for swimming directly from the garden. The lady on reception was so friendly and welcoming. I loved the communal eating area which felt like a nice community. There are lots of books and games, very cosy and down to earth. We stayed in the main old house and had a beautiful room with lake view.l which was lovely.

United StatesIt said there was free breakfast online, but we later learned it cost 15 CHF. Additionally, there was an extremely noisy group of children who woke us all up early one morning, but that is not the fault of the hotel.
The location on Lake Lucerne was perfect, and it was super easy to reach all of the nice nearby towns. The staff were very friendly, and we enjoyed using the fire pit.

FranceThe main building is very old so the room has a smell of wood. The ceiling is low so if you are tall you need to be careful with your head. It's rather isolated so no grocery shops/restaurants nearby.
The lake view is so nice. There is lot of space in the common area. Personnel is helpful. Good value to money.

NetherlandsThe bed could have been a bit more comfortable, but for one (or two) night(s) not such a problem. It's quite steep to get from the road/parking down to the reception and rooms, it would be good to indicate this clearly for less able people perhaps.
Located directly at the lake (Vierwaldstattersee), our room was only 10 m from the waterfront. The room was very nice and towels were provided. The shared bathroom was nice and clean with a very comfortable shower. The host was super helpful and friendly.

New ZealandYou have to park your car at the top at the carpark on the road, which we didn’t mind but would be hard for some people. Then walk down quite a steep long drive to the hotel.
Lovely family hostel in a 500 year old farmhouse. We had a little cosy room in the roof. The lady at reception was lovely and helpful.

SwitzerlandWe hadnt realised that you have to pre book an evening meal and there is no other choice. Arrived late (7pm) and the food was finished and anyway we hadnt booked a meal. If you want to eat there, remember to do this as it is in a location with no restaurants.
Great location. Right next to the lake although you need to park at the top and it is quite a walk down a steep hill. We arrived by ebike and could charge the bike in a locked shed near the road. Very friendly place and only one group staying there so it wasn't too noisy. Super breakfast.
