Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesNo one at reception checkin until 5 pm seemed late. They give you a free transit card and discount card which is great but we didn’t know about until 5 so could not use it and we were in Martigny all day.
Wonderful place with nice staff. More of a hotel than a hostel.

MalaysiaFor pilgrims who walk the Via Francigena, it is still a little expensive.
Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Breakfast. A little further away from Martigny city centre, BUT Bourg Martigny itself is a very charming neighbourhood.

FranceThe street outside can be noisy in the evening (but the hostel can't be responsible for that).
Lovely place in a historic building of Martigny where you can still spot the original walls. The place is paradise in Martigny, the host is friendly and perfect, the place is clean, you have towels changed regularly ... And breakfast is full of tasty local products

AustraliaOf course it’s not the hostels “fault” but the prices for a hostel are quite high. However you’re travelling to Switzerland, you have to understand that things will be expensive 😂
This is a very beautiful hostel, I honestly wouldn’t even compare it to a hostel- the showers are great. The breakfast is plentiful and the staff are always available to help and with great generosity. As a solo female traveller I felt very safe. The demographic is mostly hikers so there is a general understanding that it’s quiet around 9pm which is great!

SwedenLoved it! Comfy beds and good breakfast. Amazing staff, both the woman who checked me in and the one running the place. It's located on the coziest little bar street in the old town, you have many options of food and drinks within 100 m. The hostel opened just a couple weeks before my arrival so of course everything was new and fresh but also so well looked after that I don't doubt it will look the same if I come back in a year. Thank you for a nice stay!

SwitzerlandThe reception was with xenophobic discrimination. There were some negotiation disputes between the staff and I. Based on this dispute, the staff said that there are certain manners that “might work in your country but not Switzerland”, and I have an Asian face. They could say something like “this might work elsewhere, but not this place” or could even just say that I was impolite and disrespectful, but they didn’t. They chose a clearly discriminatory and xenophobic sentence based on people’s looks. I’m thankful for the hospitality, and I think the staff can have ways of communication much better than what I quoted to promote respect to others when something unsatisfactory happens.
The facilities are very nice, and the included breakfast is a big plus of the hostel.
