Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesRooms are a bit tired, could use a refresh. But everything was very clean.
Atmosphere from a bygone era: We loved the lobby, lounge, bar, dining and other common areas. Historical furniture, period decor. Lovely front lawn. Took us back in history! Staff: so wonderful, thoughtful, friendly, and helpful in every possible way. We do appreciated how they took care of us. View and balcony from our room: so nice to relax in private with coffee or drink.

United KingdomOur room could've been in a better view on the valley but unfortunately the reception told us there was nothing for us at the time. The breakfast was not that good; they could do some work on providing more types of food.
The views were amazing. We felt comfortable during our stay. The place was very quiet and cozy.

IndiaHowever, specific amenities, such as an iron or ironing board, were lacking in such a big hotel. Each time I needed one, I had to go down myself to collect it and then return it. The staff was friendly, barring one incident with one of the receptionists, who lacked empathy even when my child was being taken to the hospital. Specific health-related protocols must be in place in the event of a medical emergency. Food was nice, but the hotel can certainly control the flies in the dining area. You do no expect flies on food and pies early morning. The hotel overall does need repair in terms of clean rugs, and they can install window net, as there are no fans in the room. If you keep the windows open, you have tons of mosquitoes and insects coming inside the room. I understand Wengen stays cold, but the global warming over the last few years all over EU, even cold countries see hot summers now. Time to get some fans!
The location, being a heritage property, was a plus point. The location was nice. The room size was good. The room cleaning staff was friendly. Two Spanish-speaking women (from the housekeeping) helped me with extra quilts and pillows, when the reception did not understand. Overall, the staff was friendly, except for one incident involving one of the receptionists. The food (we only had breakfast there) was nice too. The live band in the evening was fantastic. Views from our room were gorgeous.

IndiaThe hotel assists transport of luggage but has no Provision to transport guests from station. The entrance to hotel is a strep incline and for guests who have physical difficulty it is a big challenge. U saw several hotels transporting in appropriate vans or jeeps. I highlighted this to the manager. If it is raining then walk from station to hotel is very unsatisfactory
The breakfast was good. The toaster used are of ancient technology and getting a toast is difficult

IsraelThere weren't many power outlets in the room, and the toilet didn't flush strongly enough. Reaching the hotel also requires quite the climb. It hasn't bothered us since we are young, but if you have mobility issues you should consider this.
The location and view is amazing, the hotel is very close to the train station, the staff were friendly, and even offered us help taking our luggage back to the train station. We also liked the breakfast very much, they offer you a list of different portions, and you can choose several items per your choice. The cheeses and bacon were great! Although other reviews stated that the rooms were quite old, it wasn't really noticeable in my opinion. The room was spacious which we appreciated, and we also had a balcony with an amazing view which was lovely.

SwitzerlandThe hotel offers a la carte dinner. We would have preferred a set daily menu (e.g. 3-4 course menu) like in other good hotels.
Beautiful old style hotel with history and ambiance! Elegant and very well kept. Perfect location overlooking the village and with grandiose view of the mountains. Fantastic dining room and lounge/bar, large cozy and comfortable rooms with all modern amenities.

United StatesAt breakfast room, both days we were day the large coffee heaters they had did not work, so coffees were cold both days. My mother in law likes her coffee hot and we asked the server. She brought capuccinos on the house. Main heater in room 202 was not working, so you could not moderate temperature. Restroom in room 202 you had to flush many times so the toilet paper goes down.
We stayed in rooms 202 and 205. 202 was a corner room, with balcony. Nice and airy. 205 was a bit darker but also with a balcony. both opening towards Lauterbrunnen valley. 200s are still a bit low, so view is nice but blocked by trees. And these rooms decor is on the older side. Beds were comfortable, there was tea pot and coffee maker in the room. In our room, the heater did not work well, so we could make it cooler (we just opened the doors of the balcony). Staff was very nice (kuddos to Stacy, the other two servers, and receptionist from NL -forgot her name, that were super super friendly to us). Breakfast/dinner room is like an older ballroom, feels nice and fancy. Common area by the bar is large and comfortable to sit down if you don't want to stay in the room. They have a spa upstairs but we did not have the chance to use it or see it. Its a bit of a hill to go up from the train station (even if it is next door). if you are bringing lots of luggage, arrange with them for pick up. they were super nice and carried my mother in law down to the station in the little wagon!

United StatesThe upstairs spaces and bedrooms were very tired looking and dated. The bathtub was narrow and dangerous to get into. There were very few plugs to charge phones. The wallpaper was peeling in our upgraded room
We loved the beautiful views and the lovely downstairs areas. Breakfast was well managed in spite of countless tour groups coming through

FinlandIncredible views from the balcony! Doesn't get better than this. The train station is also right next to the hotel. Just remember to pack something warm - Wengen gets chilly after the sun sets. I highly suggest taking the train to Kleine Scheidegg-Grindelwald Grund and come back with the cable car. We saw plenty of cute marmots during our cable car ride (for transportation we used the Berner-Oberland Pass).

CanadaWe found it unusual that the renovated room had the queen size bed made up of two twins. This was disappointing as we had confirmed a king room with sofa bed on Booking.com. I think there is some miscommunication between the hotel and the website.
We loved the historic property and the ambiance of the hotel. The staff were very friendly if not overly experienced. We enjoyed excellent breakfast and dinner in the hotel.
