We had two rooms for two couples booked for just one night as we were travelling through the area. The hotel overlooks a road and main train line to the beautiful Walensee. One of our rooms had a lake view and the other faced rearwards to the mountains. I was concerned about road and rail noise but I need not have worried as the double glazing from our lake view room was excellent at keeping the noise out. The rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable, with decent bathrooms and large showers. We ate in the restaurant and were impressed with the food, which was very tasty and prices were what you would expect in Switzerland. The staff were all very friendly, especially the young lady at reception and the waiter in the restaurant who spoke excellent English and forgave our poor German.

No refrigerator or coffee in the room. No fan in the room for hot days.

The view from the room over the lake and mountains was beautiful. The train line runs directly in front of the hotel alongside of the lake, but we could hear very little with the windows closed. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was very good.

Location close to lake, great views. Rooms a good size. Parking on site. Restaurant on site, food was reasonable price by Swiss standards, and very good and freshly cooked. Outdoor terrace overlooking the lake. Staff were friendly. Recommend and would certainly stay again.

The hotel is right next to a busy road and railway line (between the hotel and the lake) and there are many trains so it is quite noisy if you are on the lake side. We stayed at an exceptionally hot time (day temps 30+) and there is no aircon and no fans provided so we were very hot to sleep (and train noise makes it hard to leave all the doors etc open). There are no drink making facilities in the rooms.

The hotel is in an excellent location at the side of the lake so the views are great. The lake is easily accessible and the mountain activities of Flumserberg can be accessed from Unterterzen which is nearby. The rooms are basic but comfortable. It was perfectly adequate for our one night stay in transit. The hotel has an excellent restaurant where the service and food were superb. The speciality, Cordon bleu, was definitely worth trying.

The only difficulty we encountered had to do with public transport. Just a note for future tourists: getting around meant using buses, but unfortunately, bank cards were not accepted – only cash. This caused some inconvenience for us as tourists, though of course, this wasn’t the accommodation’s fault.

I can only say good things about the accommodation – the staff were friendly, everything was clean, and breakfast was perfect. Very good value for money.

Clean modern rooms with good internet and breakfast buffet. Beautiful location across from the Walensee. Perfect for public transportation as the bus stops next to the hotel. Half hourly connections to the train. Swim in the lake is possible! Tasty food in the restaurant.

Beautiful location on the Lake where we were able to put in our kayaks and go for a wonderful evening paddle. Lovely staff. Ate dinner here which I would recommend. We had pork schnitzel with mushroom and cream sauce. Quiet bedroom. Very clean. Sad to have only been able to stay one night. Balcony to the rear where you could listen to the cow bells tinkling away.

You get what you pay for, and the hotel's offerings reflect the price. That being said, the hotel is spotless! My well-sized en-suite room overlooked the beautiful Walensee, and I even had access to a spacious garden—perhaps they gave me this room because of my dog? The hotel restaurant was excellent—nice atmosphere, efficient service, well-sized tables, a great view of the lake, and a fantastic selection of Swiss food. Schifffahrt Hotel may not be one of the glamorous hotels you’d find in Dubai, New York, Berlin, Madrid, London, or Vitznau, but at a third of the cost, it ticks all the boxes! Perfect for a short stay!
