How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Some equipment didn’t work: electric kettle; bathtub missing the plug. Would have appreciated more cushions and pillows.
Spacious and clean, well heated on a snowy day. Location is central and near public transportation.

Beds and pillows were not very comfortable. Rooms very warm although fans were provided.
Our location was excellent, supermarket and restaurant beside apartment, tram stop one minute walk away and right in front of the lake.

No air conditioning and fans were not much help with heat.
Good location, very central and easy to walk to and from. Co Op nearby to purchase basics. Coffee Machine in apartment. Umbrella in wardrobe was nice touch and needed during stay! Large roomy apartment that easily accommodated family of 5.

It was not possible to close doors to some rooms. There was no washing machine. It was not very cosy, it was just bare minimum to be OK, but the price was really good so I do not complain.
The price for a 3 room apt in Zurich like this was great. I liked the central location of the apt. I liked that a kitchen was available.

Small kitchen with breakfast table for 2 (there is however a bigger table in the living room on the other side of the apartment). The elevator is quite small (3rd floor) and the light at the staircase was not working.
Great location, both the lake and the city center at a walking distance. Also tram stop, supermarket and several caffès are nearby. The apartment was clean and spacious, check-in automated.

Apartment lacked character and comfort. Main bedroom had only one bedside table and lamp, no wardrobe or hanging space, nowhere for suitcases. Second bedroom was larger and better furnished. Futon bed was only ‘sofa’ in the lounge, it was no good for sitting and relaxing on. Room needs more suitable lounge furniture for both comfort and capacity. Table chairs were very hard and uncomfortable, need cushions. Lighting in the living area was too dim for reading. Bathroom was clean but very small. Apartment building is poorly maintained. Multiple notes regarding charges for damage and lost keys etc made us feel unwelcome. Dishwasher was broken and TV remote not working. Both were fixed once we reported them.
Great location. Apartment was clean. Kitchen was well equipped (needs a bread knife). Building had a lift. Good heating.

There’s no light at the building hallway & entrance. Very dark if you came back to the property in the evening, hard to open the front door without light.

Nothing really, however there were times when the lift was not working consistently, which made us carry our luggage up 3 floors.
I liked that the location was really close to important amenities e.g. supermarket, tram stop, restaurants, and main station. Instructions were clear for check in and out and the bed and shower facilities were great! Really felt at home.

The sheets/towels were rough and worn, the place across the street was LOUD even after midnight, the couch in the living room was really uncomfortable to sit on. Overall incredibly bare boned...not a touch of warmth or welcome. Most annoyingly we couldn't store our luggage there or at their office on our last day.
Location was great, lock box and access to keys were easy.
