The incredibly kind staff, the delicious Hiker’s Pasta for dinner, and the breathtaking scenery made this an unforgettable experience. I regret missing the chance to thank the director at checkout—it was such a wonderful time, and I’d love to stay here again!

It’s a VERY far walk considering the grace of the mountain. If they greatly discounted a pick up from the Murren cable car, may make it more palatable.

The view is spectacular. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I really reccomend staying here. A piece of advice is when you arrive in Mürren with your bags opt to take the lift up and ten minute walk down to the Hotel rather than the 30 minute uphill walk, it is a long and steep uphill hike with luggage. The walk is perfectly doable without bags to go into Murren or to go down with your bags at the end of your stay. Personally once we got up there we didn’t even want to go down, the views are unbeatable and the atmosphere up there is delightful. Highly recommend staying here!!!

Amazing views over the Jungfrau and the surrounding mountains! Plus many options for hikes to mountain ridges and glacier valleys. The location is incredibly beautiful. Chris welcomed us very warmly and made our stay that much nicer. Steak night - what a treat that was! 😀

The view: We stayed at this hotel for four days, and even though it rained for three of those days, it didn't stop us from enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Swiss Alps. The hotel's location was fantastic, with its back to Birg and facing Gletscherhorn. Sitting on the balcony of our room, we could see the Swiss mountains and the chalets scattered on the hillside. That being said, because of the location, from the Mürren station, there is a 30 minutes walk uphill to get to the hotel, just let the hotel know and they will pick you up at the station by car. The view is totally worth the effort! The hospitality: Chris, the owner, took very good care of us, and we are very grateful to him. The food he prepared was delicious and varied, with no repetition in any of the meals, and it was very abundant. The hotel's decor was very new, the bed was very comfortable with just the right firmness, so we rested very well. We couldn’t recommend it enough.

Wonderful location. Ski in-ski out. Incredible views. Sunny and sheltered. Terrace for relaxing with a drink (still too chilly to be outside late into the evening as we were early April). Christoph looked after us really well, delicious breakfasts and 3 course dinners - we didn’t need lunch! Rooms clean and comfortable with lovely views. So peaceful. Couldn’t recommend it more!

We had hoped for more Mountain style food, but because the chef was Italian, the menu contained a lot of pasta dishes.

Location was wonderful for peaceful walking without loads of tourists. The reason is probably that it is not easy to get to. (funiculare, train, walk, funicular, walk). The owner made us nice chacuterie and cheese plates to go with our wine selection selections before dinner. Staff were friendly.

This isn't a negative and is actually a positive to many. The Sonnenberg is a short hike outside of Murren. It took us a couple of attempts to find the best way back up, which is the Allmendhubel funicular and catching the North Face trail down.

I have to start with the service. I have traveled my fair share, and I have never experienced anyone more attentive and eager to please than Chris. I stayed with my wife and parents. Chris went above and beyond at every turn to ensure we were having the best holiday possible.. Our rooms were spacious, and the balcony views offered everything Switzerland was supposed to be. The views from the hotel were spectacular. You are away from any tourist traffic and steps away from the North Face Trail. Breakfast was solid, and we enjoyed dinner multiple nights during our stay.

We had not appreciated that getting to the hotel was quite an adventure, involving a cable car, train and not insignificant walk uphill, if driving into Lauterbrunnen, where one has to find and pay for parking.

Amazing location, but be aware you have to walk a mile to get there! Stunning views across the valley to the Jungfrau and many glaciers. Very friendly and accommodating host, who did all he could to ensure we weren't disappointed. Lovely dining terrace and balcony in room, both with bathed in sun when the clouds clear.

It can be difficult to take day trips around the Bernese Oberland region from this hotel because you have to take a train and a gondola from Murren to Lauterbrunnen, then take additional trains and gondolas to other places. To return to Hotel Restaurant Sonnenberg each night, you have to either hike up a very steep trail (maybe not so hard for younger people, but I am 76) from Murren or take the Allmendhubel funicular (which only runs until 5:00 pm) and then hike an easy downhill trail for about 20 minutes. I stayed at the pension four nights because it is so peaceful and beautiful there and hiked around the area, then I stayed in the town of Murren for four nights so I could visit Grindelwald, Wengen, Kleine Scheidigg, Brienz, and other places more easily and not worry about the 5:00 pm Allmendhubel deadline.

The views of of the mountains from my room and from the outdoor patio were spectacular and the staff was very friendly and helpful. This is one of the most beautiful places in the world, which is why I returned for the third time. There are many hiking trails nearby and it was easy to visit Gimmelwald, Lauterbrunnen. and take the Shilthorn gondola.
