Very limited English spoken by staff. Toilet broke but was fixed well enough to use. Not the hotel's fault but museums we planned to visit nearby to learn more about Chiloe's unique history, habitats and heritage weren't open as scheduled.

We loved the lodge-like atmosphere and great water view from our room, which was very comfortable with a spacious bathroom. Plenty of parking. Communal breakfast was ample and a fun way to meet fellow travelers who provided recommendations on Chiloe sightseeing and interesting insight into life in Chile. Good dinner recommendation.

You have to pay the bill right when you come in. They don't take any credit card ... Only cash ... You'll have to search deep in your pockets!

Nice breakfast, spacious room, good bed, private bathroom (in this room) bathroom which seemed almost new and very clean (congrats to the lady 🎩). Bed done and bathroom cleaned up after the first night (2 nights in here). Very nice view from the room and the table. And the workers do their best (slow spanish) so gringos can understand 🙂

It was a really friendly place to stay and the owner and staff were really helpful and kind. There was a relaxed atmosphere and the communal areas were light and comfortable. Enjoyed eating in the restaurant next door.

There was a main floor kitchen for guest use....full refrig and stove....because I am the early riser of the family, I was looking forward to this for an early morning cup of coffee...... but, it was not stocked. :(

We would stay in this hotel again - and recommend. Our family of 4 lodged in 1 room for 1 night en route to other parts of Chiloe. It was spacious and adequately comfortable for all of us. The bathroom was big and the shower, best of all hostels during our 3 week stay. But, the BEST part of this hotel was the attached restaurant.....we had simply fantastic food (fresh seafood + vegetarian + great handcrafted pisco sours! It seemed to be a fav local spot as well - others ordered burgers, which looked great!) If you stay here, be sure to have dinner as well. Breakfast was included in our stay and was not fancy - but fresh and real food. Lobby was a lovely spot to sit -including the sunroom overlooking the bay across the street. Off street parking was very helpful.

The room next to me was full with teenagers and they made nose until midnight and then they restarted at seven in the morning. A bit more of noise isolation between the rooms and with that it would have been perfect.

Our room was very cosy and comfortable, with a nice view on the sea. The hostal is well located in Ancud and the staff is very friendly! There is also a beautiful common area with a well equipped kitchen

Restaurant in the hostel can be noisy until closing (our room was directly above) and in the morning when they start getting ready for the day. But that is a very minor complaint - the restaurant was quite good as well! Just be aware they do not take credit cards for payment.

Staff helpful, very friendly and patient with us, especially given our Spanish is limited. Helped us plan an outing to see the penguins and find a restaurant open in Ancud on Christmas day.

Not a problem for us as we are not extremely early sleepers... but the restaurants dinner clients can be heard from the room so if very early to bed perhaps another location. It was not a problem for us at all.

For a hostal category accommodation we were very satisfied with our double room with private bathroom and wonderful views. The staff were very charming, helpful, efficient, delightful people to meet on arrival, see at breakfast, etc.

The major problem is the restaurant which now shares the premises and dominates and spoils it. It has loud music until quite late and which can be heard in the bedrooms, it occupies, what was previously communal space inside and outside the hostal and now is the site of the worst organised breakfast I`ve encountered: shambles is a gross understatement. You have to hunt and/or wait a long time for your food and I saw a family reduced to eating at an uncleared table. The sole person trying to cope with this is a very nice but inexperienced girl, for whom I felt sorry: the layout and lack of tables would present problems for even several experienced waiters. They say that the restaurant is quite good but when I asked if there wee a paper menu (as I don`t have a smart phone) the man in charge simply turned his back on me. Chileans who witnessed this were disgusted by him. Previously, I would have recommended the hostal to anyone but now to no one.

I had visited this hostal twice in previous years and was looking forward to a return, but what a disappointment. Fortunately, the location, cleanliness and friendliness of staff remain unchanged and the quibbles about the building itself are minor. For example, a large modern bathroom had only a miniscule washbasin and little shelving for toiletries, and the sophisticated shower lacked a tray for shampoo and soap, and the doors tothe room and the bathroom require minor adjustments.
